As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank Digital and Platform Services team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
DP Analytics (DPA) is an in-house client engagement monitoring solution utilized by J.P. Morgan's lines of business to track and evaluate client interactions with their applications. This patented solution provides comprehensive analytics capabilities, encompassing everything from data capture to data visualization. By leveraging rich data and predefined models with advanced metrics, DPA facilitates the discovery of actionable insights and empowers users to make informed, data-driven decisions.
We are looking for a skilled and hands-on technologist to join our team. This role involves managing data pipelines, microservices, and utilizing Scala, Java, J2EE, and JavaScript skills to support our platform's existing analytics capturing system. The position offers a unique opportunity to engage with the full spectrum of CIB-wide application user behavior and usage data. The candidate will have the chance to innovate by developing robust systems for capturing user interactions and behavior, which can be used to generate analytical insights, recommendations, and track user journeys. The primary focus will be on developing Digital Platform Analytics and supporting existing platform services while building features to capture more insightful data for stakeholders.
Job responsibilities
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain microservices deployed on AWS and Kubernetes internal cloud
  • Create and manage data across various storage solutions such as Oracle, OpenSearch, and Redshift
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing existing data pipelines using Spark and Scala
  • Develop automated methods to monitor Kafka and the underlying microservices
  • Communicate with stakeholders and teams for onboarding processes
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficiency in designing and developing enterprise services using programming technologies such as Java, JEE, Spring Boot, Scala, Spark, and Python.
  • Experience in efficiently querying OLAP and OLTP databases like Oracle and Redshift
  • Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka
  • Proficiency in querying data on Elastic/OpenSearch
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in software development, with a focus on cloud technologies like AWS
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as HTML5, React/React Native, TypeScript & Micro-Frontends
