About The Team:

As a Software Engineer III you’ll have a multitude of opportunities to flex your strengths, as well as learn new things as we implement cutting edge frontend technologies at scale. The frontend platform team is responsible for building out the design, tooling, and best practices that will enable frontend engineers to build robust, scalable, and performant web experiences to the delight of our customers and millions of daily requests.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to building and maintaining a Next.js e-commerce platform that serves millions of requests per day through Kubernetes on Google Cloud.
  • Collaborate with the team to adopt Server Components, Server Side Suspense and React 19 functionality to help Wayfair deliver a world class, performant experience.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of monorepo tooling that powers deployment, build processes, and local development for all Wayfair developers.
  • Work with Server Driven UI patterns to drive platform-based architecture patterns.
  • Make open source contributions to further Wayfair’s platform needs while assisting in community-driven initiatives.


What You’ll Need:

  • Proven experience with frontend web development (React, etc).
  • Experience with & interest in frontend build tooling (Next.js, webpack, etc).
  • Experience with building and designing scalable GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with build and deploy pipelines (e.g. Github, Buildkite, Argo, Kubernetes, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with operating at scale (lots of developers & web traffic).
  • An ownership mindset and the ability to effectively collaborate on complex projects.
  • Curiosity, a desire to learn and the ability to figure things out. A debugging mindset!
  • Team focused with a desire to grow together and mentor others.
