What You'll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain front-end interfaces that enable rich, adaptable experiences for customers and internal users.
- Lead and participate in medium to large-scale projects by reviewing requirements, translating them into technical solutions, gathering information, writing and developing code, conducting unit testing, communicating status and issues to collaborators, solving open issues and bugs, and ensuring timely delivery and handoff.
- Perform design and code reviews across both backend and frontend codebases.
- Build and implement a shift-left approach in testing and TDD.
- Work with a geo-distributed team in an agile development environment.
- Collaborate closely with Application Development and Architecture teams.
- Champion engineering perfection and focus on scalability, resiliency, high availability, and performance.
- Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.
- Mentor and support peers, contributing to Chewy's internal engineering community.
- Work with key partners and service providers to build impactful technical solutions.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of experience with frontend technologies, including React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Solid understanding and experience with Java, Spring-based REST services, and integrating with RESTful APIs.
- Hands-on engineering mentality with a focus on writing high-quality, maintainable code.
- Experience building and integrating frontend applications using React and GraphQL.
- Strong understanding of Java concurrency, thread-safe design patterns, and cloud-native development in AWS.
- Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka or ActiveMQ.
- Experience with modern tools and environments including GitHub, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Willingness to travel, if required.
Bonus:
- Experience working in backend frameworks
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Experience with GitHub and AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of API design and development at scale.
- Solid understanding of frontend architecture, including component-driven design.
- Experience in the e-Commerce domain is a plus.
