At Homebase, you’ll join a team that’s bold, fast-moving, and obsessed with helping small businesses thrive. We build with empathy, act with urgency, and take big swings that drive real-world impact. Here, every Homie shows up to raise the bar, support one another, and celebrate wins as a team.

We’re not just building an app—we’re building unstoppable teams. So what do you say, are you in?

📍 Your Impact Starts Here

We're looking for a Software Engineer (Infrastructure/Developer Tooling) who's eager to learn and excited about building scalable systems and developer tooling. You'll contribute to Homebase's AWS-based infrastructure and help improve the internal developer experience. This is a great opportunity to grow your foundational skills in cloud infrastructure while making a real impact by building tools that shape how our engineering team ships software—faster, safer, and smarter.

These are the key ways you'll contribute and create impact in this role:

  • Contribute to building and maintaining infrastructure and developer tooling that empowers Homebase engineers to deliver exceptional software.

  • Support improvements to internal developer tools and products that streamline/automate workflows and reduce friction in the software lifecycle.

  • Assist in optimizing our AWS infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Learn and apply cloud technologies and best practices with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, helping teams resolve infrastructure questions and incidents.

  • Collaborate across engineering teams and grow through mentorship from experienced engineers.

  • Explore AI-powered observability and automation tools to help continuously improve developer velocity.

🚀 The Foundation for Success

These are the experiences and strengths that will set you up for success in this role:

  • 0–2 years of experience in Software Development or Infrastructure Engineering

  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn with a mindset that values internal customer needs and developer experience

  • Willingness to take initiative and contribute to improving codebases and practices with guidance from senior engineers

  • Basic familiarity with cloud infrastructure and some exposure to AWS or similar cloud services

  • Exposure to or interest in developer tooling and what makes a great developer experience

  • Familiarity with or eagerness to learn observability tools to help identify and resolve issues

  • Some experience with, or strong interest in learning Ruby to maintain our suite of Ruby-based internal/dev-ex products

  • Comfort asking questions and a willingness to support on-call rotations as you ramp up

  • Exposure to or interest in infrastructure as code concepts, with a willingness to learn Terraform

  • Basic understanding of containerized applications and deployment processes

  • AI curiosity: you've dabbled with AI tools and are excited about how automation can improve workflows and productivity
