Job Description

Software Development Engineer – C#/.NET (Cambridge, MA)

Work as a Software Engineer on the Hospital Patient Monitoring Team, and you will be working in an Agile environment responsible for designing, developing, and testing software for our Real-time Patient Monitoring platform using technologies including .NET Framework, C#, React, GraphQL, Postgres, Kafka, and Kubernetes.

Your role:

  • Lead the development of next-generation patient monitoring software as a hands-on full-stack contributor while mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, championing engineering best practices, and fostering technical excellence through coaching, feedback, and continuous learning initiatives.
  • Write clear specifications, create detailed technical designs, and implement creative software solutions. Define scope and problem domain in a crisp and structured way: define the problem with stakeholders and identify key issues.
  • Design and develop software components considering elasticity, scalability, reliability, interoperability, security, serviceability & networking needs.
  • Deliver SW modules and components meeting the requirements, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporate new tools and methodologies to improve development processes and product quality.
  • Analyze and optimize application performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks to enhance user experience and system efficiency, ensure the software meets performance benchmarks.

You're the right fit if:

  • You’ve acquired 4+ years of experience with Object-Oriented Programming and Design, C#, and .NET. Microservices, Web Services, and Relational databases.
  • Your skills include React, GraphQL, Kafka (nice to have), Kubernetes (nice to have), PostgreSQL/SQL Server, Performance tuning.
    • You can work within a cross-functional team in an Agile development cycle, focused on designing and developing code on an agile team of Engineers using Continuous Integration/Continuous deployment technologies such as Azure and GitHub.
    • You understand design patterns and practical experience in applying those patterns to address fundamental challenges in large-scale, mission-critical system development and influencing software engineering best practices within the team.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You also have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to produce high-quality work independently and work well in a team.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA is $129,000 to $205,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.   

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.  Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.  Details about our benefits can be found here. 

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position.  For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to Cambridge, MA.
