Job DescriptionSoftware Developer & Integration Lead – Platform Software - Audio Tech
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Developer & Integration Lead to join the new Software team within Bose’s Audio Technology Licensing division, responsible for scaling the development and distribution of Bose’s licensable audio solutions. This role combines strong hands-on technical capabilities with a clear understanding of product delivery. It blends software development with technical coordination, supporting platform software efforts from concept through integration, validation, and partner enablement.
The ideal candidate takes ownership of execution while ensuring alignment across internal teams and external partners, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is comfortable operating with minimal direction in a fast‑moving, start‑up–like organization.
Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Ownership
Drive technical execution for assigned platform software initiatives, from requirements definition through integration and validation, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of licensable audio technology solutions.
Platform & Real-Time Software Development
Develop and maintain platform software on real-time systems using C/C++, working across embedded and RTOS-based environments. Learn and integrate multiple SDKs from different SoC partners to deliver robust, production-ready software.
Audio Framework & Algorithm Integration
Develop a deep understanding of Bose’s audio modeling framework and how audio algorithms are designed, integrated, tested, and packaged into deliverable, licensable platform software.
Integration Leadership & Partner Support
Support internal and external partners in the integration, deployment, and validation of Bose audio technologies. Act as a technical point of contact during partner engagements, requiring strong communication skills, technical judgment, and collaborative problem solving.
Product Delivery & Execution Tracking
Participate in cross-functional program discussions to represent software and audio technology interests, track risks and dependencies using standard project tools, and help drive execution—acting as a delegate for the software manager when needed.
Technical Planning & Platform Scalability
Define integration strategies, contribute to dependency tracking, and help build reusable, scalable software components that enable efficient distribution of audio solutions across partners and product lines.
Infrastructure, Automation & CI/CD Contribution
Contribute to software infrastructure in a start-up–like environment, including unit testing, automated test frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines. Help evolve development workflows and tooling to improve quality, repeatability, and organizational scale.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with systems, QA, security, and licensing teams in a highly collaborative manner to ensure comprehensive coverage, compliance, and readiness for integration and release.
Performance & Quality
Validate latency-sensitive audio systems, analyze real-time behavior, and optimize performance to meet product, partner, and end-user experience requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed technical notes, architectural documentation, integration matrices, and progress reports to support transparency, partner enablement, and long-term maintainability.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and platform, embedded, or RTOS-based software development.
- Experience developing software for real-time or near–real-time systems, including scheduling, synchronization, latency, and performance constraints.
- Experience with audio technologies, including DSP integration, low-latency audio pipelines, or room correction algorithms.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to SDKs and platforms from multiple SoC partners.
- Experience using JIRA or similar tools for execution tracking, issue management, and cross-team coordination.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins), including build automation and continuous integration workflows.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit tests and contributing to automated test frameworks to ensure software quality and scalability.
- Demonstrated understanding of product delivery lifecycles, including integration, validation, and release readiness.
- Solid experience with system integration, debugging, and performance optimization across complex software stacks.
- Familiarity with middleware frameworks, IPC mechanisms, and hardware–software interaction.
- Highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to support external partners and represent technical interests in cross-functional environments.
- Comfortable working with minimal direction, taking initiative, and making sound technical decisions in an evolving organization.
- Experience in consumer electronics or OEM/ODM collaboration is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DSP and firmware development on platforms such as BES, Qualcomm, or AMLogic, and/or Android audio frameworks.
- Experience building or scaling shared platform software used across multiple products or partners.
- Prior experience in small teams, early-stage organizations, or start-up–like engineering environments.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex technical projects and cross-team integration efforts.
