About this role:

Pickle is looking for a Simulation Software Engineer to support and scale our robotics simulation infrastructure. This role focuses on enabling teams to develop, test, and validate robotic systems using simulation tools such as Isaac Sim.

You will work across software, testing, and robotics teams to build and maintain simulation environments, improve workflows, and ensure simulations are reliable, scalable, and accessible across the organization.

In this role, you'll own the development of simulation tooling, APIs, and automated testing workflows that directly support Pickle's autonomy platform. You'll set up and manage cloud-based simulation infrastructure, integrate simulation into CI/CD pipelines, and help engineering teams move faster by making simulation systems easier to use and more robust at scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thrives at the intersection of robotics, software, and infrastructure — and who wants their work to have a direct impact on how autonomous robots get built and validated in production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain simulation environments using Isaac Sim
  • Set up and manage simulation infrastructure, including cloud-based environments

  • Build tools, APIs, and workflows to support automated testing and validation

  • Collaborate with software and testing teams to integrate simulation into development pipelines

  • Improve usability and scalability of simulation systems across engineering teams

  • Support feature development and internal tooling for simulation users

  • Contribute to CI/CD workflows and automation related to simulation systems

Skills & Experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in robotics, simulation, or software engineering

  • Hands-on experience with Isaac Sim (strongly preferred)

  • Experience working with simulation environments and robotics systems

  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred)

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and environment setup

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with software and testing teams

  • Nice to Have:

  • Experience with additional simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, MuJoCo)

  • Background in robotics or autonomous systems

  • Experience building developer tools or internal platforms

  • Strong scripting and automation skills

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
