Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Leader--Mechanical is primarily responsible for ensuring production support and assigned work is completed by the shift.  This position will have a strong working knowledge of the shop floor and all things associated with leading a maintenance shift in a lean manufacturing environment.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 Education or GED

  • Certificate of Qualification Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a licensed Millwright.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Salary: Starting at $49.17 per hour.

  • Immediate, open position

  • Assists in the training of Trade Co-op Students, Apprentices and Journeyman in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Karmax Handbook.

  • Assists in plant support, trouble shooting, repairs and system improvements.

  • Organizes and coordinates the activities of Maintenance employees to ensure that production and/or repairs conform to quality standards outlined by the company and/or customer requirements.

  • Responsible for the effective operation of the crew during off shifts or during the absence of the Technical Leader or Supervisor.

  • Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement—3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment.

  • Able to perform various computer functions (Microsoft Office, Karmax Software).

  • Able to safely operate all Materials Handling Equipment (Forklift, crane, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility.

  • Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant.

  • Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors and trades.

  • Other duties may be required.
