The Workday Reporting & Security Analyst is a core member of the Workday Support team, responsible for delivering accurate, meaningful workforce reporting and insights. This role partners with HR and business stakeholders, including senior management, to define reporting needs and develop, maintain, and optimize Workday reports, dashboards, and People Analytics. Reporting spans payroll, benefits, time tracking, compensation, talent, performance, and recruiting. The role also administers Workday security, ensures appropriate access and data privacy, supports internal and external audits, and evaluates system updates to maintain reliable reporting and effective security controls.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with HR and key stakeholders to define reporting requirements and develop, maintain, and test simple to complex Workday reports, including matrix and composite reports, using Workday Report Writer, Report Designer, and calculated fields.
  • Deliver meaningful workforce metrics, trends, and analytical insights through Workday reports and dashboards.
  • Manage, administer, and optimize Workday People Analytics, including data validation, security access, issue resolution, release testing, and enhancements. Support user adoption and partner with HR leaders to translate workforce trends into actionable business insights.
  • Validate custom reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with business requirements.
  •  Support and troubleshoot existing reports and dashboards, resolving issues related to access, report design, configuration changes, and system releases.
  •  Document report functionality and design to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
  •  Evaluate the impact of Workday releases and functionality updates on reports and dashboards, recommend and implement changes, and perform release testing.
  •  Configure, maintain, test, and advise on Workday security, including domain security policies, roles, and role assignments.
  •  Review reports and data access to ensure compliance with company security policies and applicable data privacy requirements, including GDPR.
  •  Promote and enforce adherence to established security policies, procedures, and practices across business divisions.
  •  Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to assess the security implications of new technologies and functionality.
  •  Stay current on Workday’s security roadmap and implement relevant features and enhancements as appropriate.
  •  Audit system roles and access logs to verify accuracy and address discrepancies.
  •  Provide documentation and evidence of security controls to support internal and external audits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain and advise on security within Workday application. This includes domain security policies, roles, and role assignments
  • Coordinate with vendors to understand new technology scope and association with new functionality and security
  • Develop and maintain awareness of divisional and data security and comply with policies and procedures
  • Participate in report reviews, including understanding and ensuring security and data privacy standards
  • Stay updated on new security features within the application’s future roadmap, and implement where possible
  • Perform audits on system roles and access logs to ensure accuracy
  • Demonstrate proof of security controls during internal and external audits
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Solid understanding of Workday security features and controls
  • Knowledge of SOX and data privacy regulations
  • Ability to accurately collect information in order to understand and assess the clients’ needs and situation
  • Working knowledge of HR/Finance information systems, data models organization structures and roles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with functional and IT clients
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable enforcing adherence to security policies and practices
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with HR/Finance information systems and report development tools, such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or Workday Report Writer, and 5 years of HR/Finance application security experience; experience may be concurrent. 
  • HR functional experience required, with working knowledge of data models, organizational structures, and roles. 
  • Proficiency in Workday HCM reporting, including advanced Workday Report Writer and calculated fields, strongly preferred. Workday reporting certification preferred. 
  • Solid understanding of Workday security features and controls, with the ability to enforce security policies and practices. 
  • Knowledge of SOX requirements and applicable data privacy regulations. 
  • Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders globally to gather, assess, and translate business needs into reporting, security, and operational requirements. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to collect, organize, interpret, and communicate complex information. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential data appropriately. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, IT, and other business stakeholders. 
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, work independently, and provide timely follow-up and resolution. 
  • Knowledge of business and management principles, with the ability to promote accountability and lead by example. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with functional and IT clients 
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, i.e. Excel Pivot Tables, for data mining to develop workforce metrics reports to interpret trends in hiring and attrition.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
