About Acoustic

Acoustic is a marketing technology company helping brands build stronger, more lasting relationships with their customers. Our platform gives marketers a clearer picture of how their audiences behave and what they actually want – so they can show up at the right moment with the right message.

We believe great marketing feels less like broadcasting and more like listening. That’s what we’re building.

About the Role

Acoustic’s website is the front door to everything we’re building – and we’re looking for a Senior Web Development Manager to own it. You’re stepping into an active replatform. We’re mid-migration to a Sanity + Next.js + Vercel stack, currently in flight with an agency. Depending on timing, you’ll either work alongside the current agency to complete the migration or take it over from them directly. Either way, you’ll establish the development standards and own the outcome.

This is a team-of-one role. That’s not a disclaimer – it’s the design. We’re hiring someone who operates with force multiplication in mind: you’ll deploy AI agents and development automation to handle volume work so you can stay focused on architecture, judgment calls, and what actually moves the needle. You’ll have agency support on the SEO strategy side – your job is to execute that strategy technically with precision and speed.

This role will report directly to the CMO as we build the larger marketing team out and then adjust as the teams shift.

What You’ll Own

Technical Infrastructure & Replatform

  • Take ownership of the in-progress Sanity CMS implementation and Next.js codebase from the current agency, completing the migration and establishing development standards
  • Serve as the sole technical owner of acoustic.com – architecture, implementation, performance, and evolution
  • Manage Vercel deployments, pipeline configuration, preview environments, and edge functions
  • Own Core Web Vitals and site performance as a standing priority, not a one-time project

CMS & Content Operations

  • Design and maintain Sanity schemas, content models, and editorial workflows that empower non-technical team members to publish without developer dependency
  • Partner closely with the Designer and Content team to translate creative and editorial needs into scalable build specs
  • Build and maintain reusable Next.js component libraries that accelerate future development

Technical SEO Execution

  • Partner with our SEO agency to receive strategic direction on technical requirements, then own the implementation end-to-end
  • Execute technical SEO infrastructure: crawlability, indexing, structured data, site architecture, page speed, and redirect management
  • Serve as the technical bridge between SEO strategy and site performance, ensuring recommendations actually ship

GTM & Marketing Stack Integrations

  • Own the technical integrations that power our GTM stack – analytics, personalization tooling, marketing automation, and product demo platforms (Arcade)
  • Maintain integration health and troubleshoot issues across connected systems

AI-Augmented Development

  • Build and deploy AI agents using Claude to handle repeatable development tasks – content publishing workflows, component scaffolding, regression testing, dependency updates
  • Continuously evaluate how to deepen your use of Claude across the development lifecycle – Acoustic runs a robust Claude implementation with full support and resources to build, experiment, and scale
  • Operate as a multiplied team of one: the expectation is high output with intentional use of automation, not simply hard work

Who Thrives Here

  • You architect before you code – and you’ve thought hard about what agents can own vs. what requires your direct judgment
  • You’ve worked in PE-backed, high-growth, or lean environments and know how to operate without bureaucratic overhead
  • You define your own backlog, defend your prioritization, and own the outcomes
  • You stay ahead of the tooling curve – you’re not waiting for a company playbook on AI development; you’re writing one

What This Isn’t

This isn’t a role where scope gets handed to you. If you want a fully defined backlog and someone else to set the roadmap, this will be frustrating. If you want the keys to something that matters and the latitude to build it right – this is the role.

Requirements

Required

  • Hands-on Sanity CMS experience – schema design, GROQ queries, content modeling in production environments
  • Next.js proficiency, App Router preferred
  • Vercel – deployments, preview environments, edge functions
  • Demonstrated AI-augmented development practice with experience building agents and automation – Acoustic is a Claude shop with a robust implementation; you’ll have full access and support to push it as far as it can go
  • A portfolio of shipped production marketing websites – you can point to real work

Strong Plus

  • Experience taking over from an agency mid-engagement
  • TypeScript
  • Experience with A/B testing or personalization tooling at the infrastructure layer
  • Comfort operating without a dedicated QA function
  • Familiarity with headless CMS architecture at scale

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
