Common App is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the pursuit of access, equity, and integrity in the college admission process. Each year we support more than 1 million students, one-third of whom are first-generation, as they apply to our more than 1000 diverse member colleges & universities using the Common App's free online application.

Common App is currently searching for a Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development (SVPSBD) will play a key leadership role in developing and advancing Common App’s growth strategy through strategic enterprise partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other high-impact initiatives. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the SVPSBD will collaborate on establishing strategic priorities, foster a strong organizational culture, and drive successful execution of growth opportunities that align with Common App’s mission and Next Chapter vision.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the SVPSBD will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and managing strategic opportunities from inception through completion. This leader will work collaboratively across departments, engaging key stakeholders on the Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute transactions that strengthen Common App’s impact in the education ecosystem.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires:

  • Candidates must live in the United States.
  • 14+ years of experience in strategic alliances, business development, and/or mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • 12+ years of senior executive leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams through complex transactions.
  • Experience within the postsecondary education ecosystem.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to engage with C-level stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in M&A execution and transformational partnerships, including financial modeling, risk assessment, and deal structuring.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and a high level of initiative, integrity, and strategic thinking, with a willingness to experiment and innovate.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Master’s Business Administration, or relevant field.
  • A passion for higher education is a plus. 

PAY RANGE

Target hiring salary range $315,000 - $325,000
