The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Growth directs SMX’s Enterprise Systems & Solutions (ESS) Business Unit (BU) organic growth efforts and directly manages the growth team. The SVP reports to the SMX Chief Growth Officer and provides the vision and leadership for our growth organization to achieve ESS’s strategic goals. The SVP will champion exemplary employee, customer, and strategic partner relations which promote value-based engagement and growth. The SVP is responsible for inspiring and integrating internal departments to meet the organization's growth and profit objectives. The SVP is accountable for contributing to the firm's growth and enhancing the organization’s existing and future capabilities to ensure the firm is ahead of customer demands. You will work closely with ESS Executives and lead the Growth Team (Business Development, Capture, and Proposals) to identify and pursue new business opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and expand the company's revenues and market presence. Your primary focus will be on revenue growth, contract acquisition, and enhancing the company's competitive position within our current and future customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and coach members of the Growth and Service Delivery Teams to pursue new business opportunities within the federal government and State & Local sector.
- Provide leadership and guidance to mature and professionalize the Growth Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and compliance.
- Enhance near-term growth opportunities while building a resilient organization to accelerate long-term growth opportunities.
- Provide focus and leadership to effectively develop and execute the BU’s growth strategy for government contracts, aligning it with the overall business objectives.
- Enhance or establish effective processes to enable the successful capture of government contracts from identification to award.
- Build and enable others to maintain relationships with key government stakeholders, including agency officials, senior executives, program managers, and contracting officers.
- Monitor and analyze government procurement trends, policies, and regulations to identify potential opportunities and risks.
- Lead the team in the development and submission of proposals and bids for government contracts, ensuring compliance with all requirements and guidelines.
- Collaborate with and provide leadership to cross-functional teams, including business development, solutions, human resources, service delivery, and finance & accounting to develop and implement effective strategies for contract acquisition.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with other government contractors, subcontractors, and industry associations to enhance the BU's competitive position.
- Facilitate market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes within the government contracting industry.
- Create, monitor, and track government contract opportunities and build a growing pipeline of potential projects to facilitate corporate growth.
Required Skills & Experience
- Relevant experience and success providing leadership in a financial solutions/information technology sales manager role.
- Proven experience and demonstrated results in a senior growth leadership role within the government contracting industry, driving growth strategies, and securing government contracts.
- Proven experience developing and maturing a growth organization in organizations with revenue more than $100m to achieve recurring organic revenue growth rates of >20%.
- In-depth knowledge of government procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of the government contracting market, including key agencies, contract types, and industry trends.
- Demonstrated record of successful leadership to drive the acquisition of competitive government contracts, with a focus on revenue growth.
- Excellent existing network presence in the government contracting industry including key relationships with senior customer decision makers, teaming partners, competitors, industry groups, and strategic partners.
- Strong business acumen, creativity, and strategic thinking ability, with the capability to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and proposals to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and market insights to drive decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are preferred.
