We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President and Counsel to join our Wealth Legal team. This person can sit in Pittsburgh, PA, New York City, NY or Lake Mary, FL. 

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to BNY’s Wealth business, providing counsel on trust and fiduciary administration matters for high-net-worth individuals and families, including sophisticated trusts and estates issues.
  • Deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice that balances commercial objectives with strong judgment, fiduciary responsibilities, and effective risk mitigation.
  • Partner closely with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to navigate complex legal and regulatory matters, support strategic priorities, and enable informed decision-making.
  • Identify legal, regulatory, and operational risks early and provide proactive, solutions-focused guidance to address issues efficiently and effectively.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Bring at least 5 years of relevant legal experience in trusts and estates, including sophisticated fiduciary administration 
  • Fiduciary litigation and prior in-house experience are a plus.
  • Hold a Juris Doctor (or equivalent) and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state

    Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Eligible employees also may receive other benefits (including various paid time off benefits, such as vacation and sick time), dependent on the position offered.
