Job Description

Job Summary:

The overarching mission of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (SPH) is to advance the public’s health through learning, discovery, and communication. To pursue this mission, the School produces knowledge through research, reproduces knowledge through higher education, and translates knowledge into evidence that can be communicated to the public, policymakers, and practitioners to advance the health of populations.

We are seeking a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner (STAP) to join our Office of Human Resources' Talent Acquisition (TA) Team, where we are dedicated to being proactive and strategic partners with the SPH community on how to recruit, manage, compensate, reward, and develop employees so that we can most effectively support the School’s strategic priorities.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Talent Acquisition, and working closely with their peer Senior Talent Acquisition Partner and Talent Acquisition Coordinator, the STAP is an integral team member.  They will very regularly collaborate with HR Partners, the Compensation and Classification team, and have close touchpoints with other HR functions as well. The STAP will support a portfolio of departments on all talent acquisition needs - serving as a project manager, subject matter expert, and trusted guide for the inclusive and compliant hiring of top talent. They are also a credible and dependable resource to candidates (always taking the candidate experience into consideration), and a partner to community organizations.
 

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop recruiting plans, identify sourcing strategies, interview candidates, administer appropriate assessment and reference/background checking
  • Partner with and advise hiring manager(s) and HR consultants to determine staffing needs; educate and train on recruitment and employment practices
  • Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding recruiting process
  • Analyze and use recruiting data to improve employee recruitment
  • Develop and implement advertising and social media recruitment strategies
  • Make hiring and salary recommendations and negotiate offers, after consultation with the Compensation team
  • Communicate important employment information during delivery of employment offers (e.g., benefits, compensation, non-compete agreements)
  • Plan, organize, and implement outreach efforts; represent the University at recruiting events
  • May review and classify positions for both salary grade and FLSA status
  • May conducts executive level searches
  • May partner with Central Recruitment Services in areas such as vendor relations, recruitment compliance, systems support, university-wide initiatives, etc.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations and established Harvard policies and procedures for compliant recruiting
  • Performs other duties and lead special projects as assigned and may work in support of HR Partner or other HR specific work     

Please Note: This position is primarily remote however occassional on-site work will be required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors (or advanced) degree
  • Advanced knowledge of labor markets, recruiting practices, effective social media recruitment tools and marketing resources
  • Experience working in a union environment and/or academia a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and/or CRM tools
  • Experience with large databases and reporting; using reports and data to identify trends and make recommendations
  • Experience with managing projects through completion and meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • A track record of strong business judgment, connecting human resources with organization goals/mission
  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills
  • Service-oriented, collaborative, and impact-driven
  • Demonstrated commitment to building and sustaining relationships, including effectively communicating with staff at all levels, working as a team, and working with confidential data

Work Format Details

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
