A Day in the LifeYou will work and lead within a cross-functional team to design, develop, test, and document innovative imaging system solutions utilizing software and hardware components.
You will lead the characterization and optimization of image quality performance at the system level, considering the interaction of imaging hardware, software, reconstruction, and image processing pipelines.
You will collaborate across marketing, quality, software, hardware, and test teams to ensure the imaging chain meets product requirements and clinical use needs.
You will lead the definition and development of user needs, business needs, use cases, requirements, and system architecture.
You will lead the engineering analysis to optimize and select system-level concepts to ensure the final solution fulfills needs, requirements, use cases, environments, and the overall system vision.
You will lead the planning and execution of user evaluations in lab-based surgical environments or other formative evaluation events to gain insightful feedback on system concepts. 
You will lead the team in identifying and mitigating technical risks, product hazards, and failure modes.
You will troubleshoot system component integration and support surgical procedure integration of the design.
You will provide technical leadership along with computer-assisted, robotic-assisted, and clinical procedure subject matter expertise to internal and cross-business development teams.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience 
  • OR advance degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in the medical device industry and/or surgical techniques.
  • Experience with X-ray imaging systems, including system performance characterization and image quality optimization.
  • Experience analyzing end-to-end imaging pipelines, including detector behavior, acquisition, calibration, reconstruction, image processing, and display.
  • Experience troubleshooting image quality artifacts and performance limitations in imaging systems.
  • Ability to apply AI tools effectively while exercising sound engineering judgment, technical accuracy, and appropriate review of outputs.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering as related to stakeholder needs definition, creation of use case workflows, requirements definition and decomposition, functional architecture, and system design.
  • Experience planning and conducting user evaluations of product concepts, analyzing data, documenting evaluation methods and results, and presenting design recommendations to product teams.
  • Experience with software design, algorithm design, GUI design, and iterative software development practices.
  • Familiarity and experience working with Matlab, Linux, C++, or scripting languages.
     

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110,400.00 - $165,600.00


This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
