Position Summary 

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and Senior Engineering manager. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in constructing and guiding dynamic, talented engineering teams. This role involves coaching and mentoring team members to ensure the delivery of top-tier products and services, specifically within the realms of voice and chat bots. 
 

As a Senior Engineering Manager at CVS Health, you'll play a crucial role in building and delivering high-quality software that enhances customer experiences. You'll be involved in all phases of software engineering, from requirements analysis to deployment, while adhering to agile software development methodologies. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will: 

  • Partner with leadership, application owners, business partners and peer groups regarding long and short-range technical solutions that meet business objectives
  • Lead two or more teams of software engineers, provide mentorship, foster professional growth, and ensure team effectiveness
  • Actively participate in Agile Scrum team activities including sprint planning, refinements, daily scrum, and retrospectives 
  • Get hands-on as required, participate in code and design reviews, evaluate technical work, and influence towards software engineering best practices, including the use of AI development tools
  • Contribute to solution design and architecture, collaborating with product teams, architects, and senior engineers
  • Build and develop high-performing engineering teams by hiring top talent, conducting technical performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements engineering, system design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring adherence to modern engineering standards, secure coding practices, and scalable architecture principles

Required Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience managing engineers 
  • 10+ years of experience with designing and building software engineering solutions in cloud environments 
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more modern languages, such as Typescript, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, etc. 
  • 10+ years of experience with APIs, microservices, and modern software patterns 
  • 5+ year(s) of soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders 
  • 5+ year(s) of experience independently managing deliverables
  • Experience with AI developmental tools 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical and strategic concepts to multiple stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and their practical applications in conversational AI
  • Experience developing and supporting voice and text chatbots.
  • Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
