More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

Wise is building the infrastructure for money with a clear ambition: to become the everyday account people rely on, whether they're managing money at home or across borders. Customers should be able to receive their salary, pay bills, earn on their balances, and move money internationally—all from a single account that is simple & transparent. As a Software Engineer on the North America Account team, you'll work on products that customers interact with every day. You'll own meaningful problems from discovery through production, improving the reliability and experience of receiving money, expanding access to local account capabilities, evolving our interest offering, and building the platform that powers Wise's everyday account experience in North America. Your work will directly influence customer growth, engagement, trust, retention, and the value customers receive from holding money with Wise.

Key responsibilities

  •  Bring a strong product mindset, connecting engineering decisions to customer outcomes such as account adoption, customer engagement, reliability, trust, and long-term value.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of impactful projects, from understanding customer problems and shaping solutions through implementation, rollout, measurement, and ongoing operational excellence.
  • Build and evolve highly available backend services using Java, Spring Boot, relational databases, microservices, and well-designed APIs.
  • Design resilient distributed systems with thoughtful approaches to asynchronous processing, data consistency, observability, scalability, security, and operational reliability.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance, Treasury, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions that balance customer experience, regulatory requirements, and technical excellence.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested software while continuously improving engineering practices, operational tooling, and service health.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences and contribute to collaborative decision-making across teams.
  •  Raise the engineering bar by mentoring teammates, providing constructive feedback, reviewing designs and code, and reducing operational and knowledge silos across the team.

Additional Information

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
