Job Description:
DTN is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer – Workday Finance to join our Finance engineering organization and build scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions supporting critical financial business processes.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software for enterprise Finance applications and services. You will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers, QA, and Finance domain experts to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building distributed, cloud-based enterprise applications and an understanding of financial systems and business processes.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain highly scalable software services supporting Workday Finance capabilities
- Own complex technical problems from requirements and architecture through implementation, production deployment, and ongoing support
- Design and implement reliable APIs, backend services, data models, and distributed systems
- Develop solutions supporting financial transactions, accounting, billing, revenue, reporting, and related Finance workflows
- Ensure financial data is accurate, consistent, secure, traceable, and auditable
- Design systems capable of handling high transaction volumes while meeting performance, availability, and reliability requirements
- Build resilient services with appropriate handling of retries, failures, duplicate transactions, and data reconciliation
- Participate in architecture and design reviews and influence technical direction
- Partner with Product Management and Finance subject-matter experts to translate business requirements into effective technical designs
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and continuously improve system reliability, performance, and observability
- Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence
- Identify opportunities to simplify architecture, improve engineering processes, and reduce technical debt
- Mentor other engineers and provide technical leadership within the team
- Champion engineering best practices through code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Will Bring to the Position
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of complex systems
- Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, Python, C++, Go, or similar
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems and scalable backend services
- Strong experience with RESTful APIs, service-oriented or microservice architectures, and asynchronous/event-driven systems
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Experience with cloud technologies and modern software development practices
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and production support
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical, scalable solutions
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience developing ERP, Finance, accounting, billing, revenue, or financial management software
- Understanding of financial concepts including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, revenue recognition, accounting periods, and financial reporting
- Experience with high-volume transaction-processing systems
- Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed messaging systems
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or comparable container technologies
- Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud platforms
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS applications
- Familiarity with financial data reconciliation, auditability, and data-integrity requirements
- Experience working within an enterprise SaaS environment
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience

Compensation
The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $109,500 and $145,500. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
