We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and build tools, pipelines, and AI-enabled systems for complex creative production workflows. You will connect AI models with DCC applications, APIs, internal services, and production infrastructure to support artists, technical artists, designers, and engineers.

A central part of the role is building reliable, multi-step agentic workflows that coordinate tools, maintain state, and recover from failures. You will combine hands-on development with technical leadership to deliver production-quality software, usable artist-facing tools, and maintainable content pipelines.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own tools and pipeline systems from workflow discovery and architecture through implementation, rollout, maintenance, and production support!
  • Build agentic workflows that coordinate models, tools, APIs, and services, with context management, state tracking, validation, retries, and failure recovery.
  • Develop AI-enabled engineering tools for coding, testing, debugging, codebase analysis, code review, and workflow automation.
  • Create DCC integrations, plugins, panels, desktop applications, and services that address the needs of artists and technical artists.
  • Build and maintain content pipelines covering authoring, validation, publishing, versioning, asset management, and delivery to rendering or real-time systems.
  • Design software architecture, APIs, and data contracts that support maintainability, performance, and integration across production systems.
  • Establish automated testing, agent evaluations, tracing, monitoring, and appropriate access controls to ensure reliable and observable operation.
  • Manage packaging, dependencies, compatibility, and releases across supported applications and production environments.
  • Partner with users to prioritize improvements, lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, and document systems to support adoption and ongoing maintenance.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience!
  • 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience developing production tools, content pipelines, or comparable workflow systems.
  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience, including leading engineering projects, guiding architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and coordinating delivery.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with software architecture, API design, automated testing, debugging, and maintainable code.
  • Background with integrating with DCC applications and supporting content workflows from authoring through validation, publishing, and downstream delivery.
  • Experience building multi-step AI workflows that invoke tools or APIs and interact with existing software systems, including state management, evaluation, and failure handling.
  • Experience developing usable tools for artists or other specialist users and translating workflow needs into engineering requirements.
  • Experience with version control, code review, release management, and support for production-critical software.
  • Ability to diagnose issues across applications, services, and data, communicate technical tradeoffs, and collaborate across engineering and creative teams.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience developing desktop or embedded interfaces with PySide/Qt or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, or other languages used for application integrations and production services.
  • Experience with asset management, production tracking, Git, Perforce, and content dependency management.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Unity, proprietary engines, graphics, rendering systems, or shader development.
  • Experience with LLM APIs, tool calling, structured outputs, retrieval and context systems, and agent evaluation or observability.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD for Level 5.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until October 9, 2026.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
