Role Summary:
A Staff Software Engineer at Filevine is a highly motivated and skilled individual contributor. These individuals establish the standard of personal productivity and excellence for all engineers. To excel in this role, engineers will stand out among their peers across the following dimensions. We recognize and expect this role to spend <=30% of time on non-coding activities.
What You'll Do:
- Provide decisive and insightful direction, oversight, technical authority, and guidance for the the following duties in a full stack development team:
- Developing web based applications using technologies such as .NET, C#, Node, AngularJS, React, Redis, MS SQL, ElasticSearch, AWS
- Performing day to day maintenance and support of all existing applications in use at Filevine
- Preserving and optimizing the quality of the software
- Innovating and improving on the software, features, processes, and technology
- Analyzing, troubleshooting, and fixing issues and bugs as they arise
- Performing exemplary code reviews
- Work within assigned team to complete duties as assigned, while mentoring, training, and reviewing more junior engineers, helping to define team development and engineering best practices, and leading the teams in implementation of these best practices
- Be part of an on-call rotation with other team members to provide escalated emergency support
- Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively with various technical and management audiences
- Analyze and improve the scalability and performance of high-volume, information rich web applications.
- Participate in lively engineering debate, making a strong and logical case for well considered opinions, while appreciating the opinions of peers
What You Need:
- 10+ years working as a software engineer or architect with a proven track record of creating value for businesses
- Shows mastery in code with fast, clean, and efficient implementation. Work products are the model and example for others to follow
- Shows mastery in code reviews
- Shows mastery across several coding languages
- Shows mastery on frameworks like Angular and React
- Shows mastery with source control systems and CI/CD Pipelines
- Shows mastery working independently on assigned projects as well as in mentoring and training others
- Shows mastery completing work assignments efficiently and productively
- Shows mastery communicating effectively, professionally, and regularly
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D in computer science, information systems, a related field; comparable certifications; or equivalent direct work experience

Compensation Information: $200,000 - $235,000
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. The total compensation package for this position will be determined by each individual’s location, qualifications, education, work experience, skills and performance. We believe in the importance of pay equity - the range listed is just one component of Filevine’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, stock options, a paid time off policy, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision.
Work Location Expectation: Remote or option to be hybrid/in-office in one the following locations: San Francisco, New York, Chicago, or Salt Lake City
