Description:

We are seeking an experienced Radiochemist to join Mariana’s Radiopharmacology function, advancing personalized medicine and radiopharmaceuticals. This role will support the development of personalized medicine and radiopharmaceuticals through a strong radiochemistry focus, working with project teams to obtain critical data to advance product development. Specifically, this mainly laboratory-based role is responsible for developing and optimizing radiolabeling methods for new product candidates, addressing questions developed by the project team. These include agent stability, in vitro studies, and in vivo biodistribution studies. The candidate will also have a role in supporting broader team activities including but not limited to pharmacokinetic studies. The role requires the candidate to make presentations at research meetings, take a leadership role representing the radiopharmacology function for at least one of the target projects, interface more broadly with internal cross-functional teams to support other target efforts, as well as potentially external collaborators and contract research organizations (CROs). They will also take a role in supporting document preparation, such as technical reports.

Illustrative Breadth of Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other functions to identify necessary studies to drive product advancement
  • Perform radiolabeling, product analysis, and subsequent analyses including stability
  • Design, develop, and optimize radiolabeling methods and formulations for new agents to support preclinical studies. This will include scheduling cell binding and in vitro efficacy studies with Biology, providing radiolabeled molecules, and similarly supporting in vivo biodistribution and efficacy studies
  • Follow relevant SOPs, guidelines and policies in a highly regulated environment
  • Accurately label samples, track collection, and maintain comprehensive records
  • Follow protocols rigorously and contribute to protocol refinement when needed
  • Maintain accurate and organized data entry and analysis (including maintaining the Electronic Lab Notebook in an accurate and timely fashion to ensure compliance with internal quality standards) and compliance with EHS standards
  • Communicate in a time-efficient manner with cross-functional teams in a dynamic research environment
  • Present data to target teams, contribute to written reports and engage with broader company teams
  • Execute in vivo studies as required including biodistribution, in vivo efficacy and preclinical imaging studies (PET/SPECT/CT) when necessary
  • Knowledge in cell culture is desired but not a requirement
  • Experience working with radioactive material is desired but not a requirement – training will be provided where required
  • Experience in managing CROs is desired but not required

Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific field, plus 2 – 5+ years’ experience; MS in a relevant scientific field, plus 1+ year of experience, PhD in a relevant field
  • Background in chemistry/radiochemistry
  • Interest/experience in pharmacology and/or PK research
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication abilities
  • Radiopharmaceutical experience is desired, but training will be provided for motivated individuals
  • Ability to work with computers and software applications, such as Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a small team setting and take on significant responsibilities during daily operations
