About this position:
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist passionate about precision medicine, with a strong background in analyzing large-scale, multi-omic molecular and real-world clinical datasets. In this role, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and refine best practices for integrating and analyzing Tempus’ comprehensive multi-modal data—including genomics, transcriptomics, digital pathology, and longitudinal clinical records. You will play a key role in evolving the Tempus Data Model to maximize the value of these diverse data types, and lead impactful research studies that leverage this unique dataset to address critical questions in cancer and other human diseases. Your work will directly enhance Tempus’ research capabilities and empower our teams and partners to generate actionable insights for patient care.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineers, scientists and data producer teams at Tempus to design, develop and validate model builds while creating best practices for research use.
Lead research leveraging Tempus real-world clinical and molecular data.
Evaluate and integrate omic data sets within the Tempus data platform
Communicate highly technical bioinformatics and computational methods clearly to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of genomics background
Required Qualifications:
3+ years experience in industry or academia, following completion of PhD degree in quantitative NGS-related disciplines (e.g. Computational Biology, Biostatistics/Statistical Genetics, or similar). Alternatively, a PhD in computational biology with a strong record of multi-omic, high-throughput sequencing data analysis
Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling in large SQL databases.
Strong background in oncology and RWD research
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to shift priorities seamlessly
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong peer-reviewed publication record with a focus on oncology is a plus.
Experience analyzing molecular data linked with real world evidence and clinical data
Experience with multi-omic analyses including single-cell and spatial platforms
Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis.
Understanding of CLIA/CAP validation protocols, and how to bring scientific ideas to market
Experience with engineering practices for research computing (e.g. Docker, Git, Code review, cloud computing)
CHI: $130,000-$175,000
NYC/SF: $140,000-$190,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from California and may vary for other locations (Colorado, Illinois, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
