ROLE SUMMARY
The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is strategically focused on discovering novel therapies to prevent or treat cardiometabolic diseases. Our mission is to build a world-class research team dedicated to deepening the mechanistic understanding of disease pathogenesis.
As a member of the discovery biology team, the Senior Scientist will play a pivotal role in the drug discovery process-from ideation and hypothesis generation to the identification and validation of therapeutic targets and disease-related biomarkers.
This individual will contribute to experimental strategy and execution and work closely with other scientists across disciplines. Expertise in cardiovascular biology is essential, and familiarity with dysmetabolic pathophysiology is highly desirable. The role also involves fostering collaborations with academic institutions and internal partners across the Pfizer network.

  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in preclinical and translational science and integrate relevant advances into portfolio programs.
  • Design and execute rigorous in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments, including data analysis and interpretation.
  • Support the development of junior scientists through mentorship and collaborative engagement.
  • Translate experimental findings to advance understanding of cardiovascular biology and complex physiological systems in disease and therapeutic contexts.
  • Build and maintain collaborations with academic partners and internal Pfizer scientists.
  • Communicate research findings through peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and internal leadership briefings.
  • Uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity, quality, and compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in cardiovascular biology, cardiometabolic diseases, or a related field, with 0-3 years of postdoctoral research experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific data and formulate innovative hypotheses.
  • Strong track record of scientific contributions, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo models relevant to cardiovascular disease.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously with scientific rigor and adaptability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across scientific disciplines.
  • Prior experience in drug discovery is preferred but not required.
