Virta Health is on a mission to transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse diabetes and obesity in one billion people.

This is a hands-on role at the center of Virta's revenue accounting operations. You’ll build a strong understanding of how billing activity, accounting estimates, receivables, and supporting data flow through the revenue cycle and financial statements. You’ll also have opportunities to strengthen recurring processes, learn our systems, and contribute to automation and process improvements as the business grows.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare recurring revenue close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and related documentation; investigate variances and resolve routine reconciling items to maintain accurate financial records

  • Apply established revenue accounting policies and methodologies to recurring transactions and estimates, researching routine questions and escalating non-standard or judgmental matters as appropriate

  • Maintain recurring revenue reporting and supporting system data, perform completeness and accuracy checks, and flag data quality or reporting issues for follow-up

  • Help develop and maintain monthly controls and reconciliations for accounts receivable to ensure completeness and accuracy of accounts receivable balance in NetSuite.

  • Support recurring accounting estimates, customer-related adjustments, and other revenue calculations using established methodologies and maintain clear supporting documentation

  • Support quarterly reviews and the annual audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation and responding to routine requests

  • Identify and help implement practical improvements to assigned processes, including opportunities to improve accuracy, timeliness, documentation, automation, or control

  • Communicate progress, issues, and dependencies proactively; maintain clear process documentation and collaborate effectively with teammates and cross-functional partners

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Take ownership of assigned recurring revenue close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and related documentation

  • Develop a clear understanding of Virta’s revenue cycle, accounting policies, systems, reporting, and key dependencies and begin independently performing assigned recurring processes

  • Build strong working relationships with the Revenue team and key partners, support recurring audit and accounting requests, and identify one practical improvement to an assigned process

Must-Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 3+ years of relevant accounting experience; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue accounting principles, including familiarity with ASC 606, with the ability to apply established policies and procedures to recurring accounting activities

  • Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with large data sets

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently manage recurring processes and small-to-medium projects, identify improvements, and flag issues early

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning ERP, revenue, and reporting tools such as NetSuite, Zuora, Looker, or similar; clear communicator with strong organization and documentation skills

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma
