We are seeking an experienced Product Management Associate to support the Product Manager -AI & Automation in developing AI-enabled applications and products that improve Disability and Absence operations. This role requires an AI-centric professional who combines strong product judgment, operational insight, data fluency, and the ability to influence across business and technology teams.
The successful candidate will work independently, take initiative, identify high-value opportunities, translate complex operational needs into actionable product requirements, and guide engineering teams toward solutions that are responsible, scalable, measurable, and easy to adopt.
The Product Management Associate assists the Product Manager and Solution Manager by independently driving the analysis, definition, and elaboration of features that align with customer, operational, and enterprise objectives. This self-motivated individual will proactively advance work, resolve ambiguity, surface risks, and bring forward recommendations with limited day-to-day direction. The person will help shape AI-enabled product strategy; test assumptions with data and users; define benefit hypotheses, success measures, and guardrails; and ensure solutions deliver a strong user experience. The role requires senior-level capability in product management, relationship management, requirements analysis, process improvement, and technology, along with the judgment to balance innovation, risk, compliance, and operational readiness.
Eligible candidates should be prepared to work Eastern Time Zone hours.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and sequencing of AI automation opportunities across the full claim lifecycle, owning the AI product roadmap and robotics-to-AI transition plan while balancing quick wins with transformational initiatives.
  • Design human-in-the-loop workflows that pair AI agents with human judgment on high-stakes claims decisions, defining confidence thresholds, escalation triggers, and error handling to ensure operational trust in AI-driven outcomes.
  • Build trust-based relationships with operations leadership, observe claims workflows firsthand, and serve as a thought leader and storyteller for the transformation, regularly presenting data-backed impact narratives to senior leadership.
  • Directly manage, coach, and develop Product Owners while partnering closely with engineering leaders and solution architects to evaluate AI capabilities against real operational needs and ensure technical proposals solve genuine business problems.
  • Ensure each Program Increment focuses on the highest-value features aligned with the roadmap and portfolio OKRs, track delivery against operational KPIs, communicate trade-off decisions in business terms, and maintain hands-on engagement with AI tools, agentic frameworks, and the broader AI landscape.

Required Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in insurance or financial services, including product management, digital product development, business analysis, or operations transformation, including responsibility for complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • 5+ years of experience leading products or capabilities through delivery, launch, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement within an agile delivery model.
  • 2+ years of experience applying AI, machine learning, generative AI, intelligent automation, analytics, or decision-support technologies to business problems.
  • Strong understanding of AI product considerations - including data quality, evaluation, human-in-the-loop design, model limitations, monitoring, privacy, security, compliance, and responsible use - combined with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to synthesize ambiguous information, challenge assumptions, and convert insights into measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, and documentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences, proven ability to influence without direct authority and build trust across business and technology teams, and a highly independent, self-motivated approach to managing multiple workstreams, anticipating needs, and delivering high-quality outcomes with limited supervision.
  • Ability to apply AI in high value scenarios to improve effectiveness, quality and business impact while structuring work to combine AI with subject matter expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Group Benefits, Disability, Absence, or insurance claims.
  • Prior experience as a product owner or product manager.
  • Advanced degree or recognized product, Agile, data, or AI certification.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
