JOB LOCATION: Cambridge, MA


POSITION: Senior Research Associate


POSITION DESCRIPTION: Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Associate with the following duties: execute routine experiments to support analytical development including sample preparation, equipment setup, and acquire data per SOPs; assist in planning basic experiments (e.g., Stress stability studies) with supervisor guidance, documenting objectives, methods and system suitability criteria; interpret results (e.g. purity, assay performance, trends) with limited input; summarize findings and identify deviations; operate and maintain proficiency on instrument/operation (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, GC-FID, UV-Vis, pH, centrifugation), including calibration checks and basic maintenance; maintain high-quality lab notebook documentation consistent with GDP expectations; ensure date integrity and traceability; identify, troubleshoot, and communicate routine technical issues (instrument errors, sample anomalies, out-of-spec observations) and escalate when needed; collaborate with departmental peers to coordinate workloads, share best practices, and deliver assignments on schedule; complete all required EHS compliance, and role-specific training in timely manner. Up to 20% remote work allowed.


Estimated salary range reflects expected pay for this role. Actual base salary depends on the applicant’s qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, & work location, & will comply with all applicable minimum‑wage laws. U.S. employees may be eligible for medical, dental, & vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, sick leave, company holidays, incentive compensation programs, & other benefits offered under company policies.


REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field, plus 1 year of relevant work experience.  Prior experience must include: plan routine analytical experiments following technical protocols to quantify, analyze small molecules and large molecule compounds; independently operate instruments (HPLC/UPLC) for analysis of samples; prepare accurate pipetting and solution preparation (dilutions, concentrations); interpret results (e.g., purity, assay performance, trends) and communicate findings and out-of-spec observations; perform chemical handing, labeling, segregation, spill response and proper disposal activities following lab safety procedures; collaborate with cross-functional teams to test automation tools/workflows in the lab and provide user feedback.


Full time. $77,002 to $91,740 per year.
