WHOOP is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead reliability efforts across the Apparel & Accessories (A&A) team. This role will ensure that products are designed and released with high performance and durability, supporting innovative new wear methods and delivering exceptional user experience. You will lead testing strategies, evaluate material and product reliability, and ensure that WHOOP continues to ship high-quality, long-lasting accessories at speed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the reliability strategy for A&A projects, spanning New Product Introduction (NPI), Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT), and Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts.
  • Apply robust reliability engineering principles at both product and component levels, working with textiles, silicone, metals, and plastics.
  • Develop and standardize test protocols across suppliers and contract manufacturers to drive consistency and repeatability.
  • Partner closely with Asia-based reliability teams and labs to ensure aligned execution of test strategies and analysis.
  • Analyze test data, communicate findings clearly, and lead cross-functional collaboration with design, quality, and supply chain partners.
  • Drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for reliability-related issues.
  • Balance rapid product development timelines with long-term durability and product performance expectations.
  • Evaluate risk and advise on material choices and design directions from a reliability perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, ideally in consumer electronics, wearables, or related industries.
  • Deep understanding of material behavior and durability (textiles, silicone, metals, plastics).
  • Proven track record in developing and executing reliability test plans and protocols.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis and reliability tools; familiarity with test equipment and methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across geographies and functions.
  • Experience with contract manufacturers and suppliers in Asia and Mexico.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and their implications for product reliability.
  • Familiarity with accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, and environmental stress screening (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with wearables, soft goods, or consumer products (preferred).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for reliability and safety (preferred).
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) certification (preferred).
  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
