Manage multiple client-facing IT projects end-to-end: gather and write business/functional requirements, coordinate cross-functional teams, perform testing and implementation, track milestones, manage vendor/client relationships, and produce regular project reports while ensuring timelines and support transitions.
The Project Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day project management oversight, directly managing the coordination and implementation of small to medium-size clients facing projects. Job duties include coordination of multiple projects simultaneously and may also include serving as a subject matter expert over a specific product or system.
This position needs to become technically familiar with the various systems and integration points; as they will be required to write business and functional requirements for both the customer and internal development team.
Responsibilities- Manages multiple client-based projects
- Works with project/program owners or clients to craft business & functional requirements and refine user stories
- Works with cross-functional teams within IT and the business
- “Hands on” project management including performing testing and implementation tasks
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively apply skills to improve project performance
- Develops and leads key projects in support of internal and client facing IT initiatives
- Manages key milestones of projects
- Directs internal and external project team members
- Works closely with business and product management team
- Provides overall direction on project progress
- Accountability for meeting timeline targets as set forth by management or client
- Works with operations leadership to address support transition
- Manages client and vendor relationships and provides escalation path for clients
- Interfaces with key cross-functional departments. Such as; Infrastructure, Development, Product Management, Quality Control, Database Management
- Defines project goals and objectives
- Performs root-cause analysis on issues, research and design short term and long-term solutions
- Generates daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding assigned projects to appropriate managers and stakeholders.
- Serves as “subject matter expert” to business stakeholder during the project discovery phase
- Consults throughout the project phases to ensure IT-business alignment and client expectations are well set
- Assists in determining project scope and feasibility
- Provide initial project effort estimate
- Acts as “subject matter expert” in project management methodology and provide process improvement suggestions
- Performs testing and documentation of new system features
- To develop an attitude and work habits commensurate with increasing status as an Information Technology professional.
- To enhance technical expertise through education, project assignments and professional activities.
Required:
- 3+ years of working experience in a professional environment, 1+ years of project management or customer implementation experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with both technical and non-technical information
- Detail-oriented, highly competent with technology, calm under pressure, and capable of balancing customer satisfaction with operational discipline.
- Methodical, detail oriented, efficient, organized, highly productive, a true self-starter
- Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency expected
- Must be resourceful, self-motivated, and able to be successful in a professional team-based environment
- Proven ability to work well with users at all levels, both within the organization and the client community
- Excellent comprehension (IT technical and/or general) of verbal (English Language) and written (English Language) instructions, processes, procedures and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and complete tasks on time within a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- Work requires handling light and simple weight material and equipment. Visual activity requires the ability to tolerate prolonged periods of close computer screens. Work requires speed, accuracy and adeptness to operate in system application. Fast-paced work environment. After hours, weekend and holiday work will occasionally be required as determined by the manager to support issues resolution.
