The opportunity:

Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) is seeking a Senior Program Manager, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to lead and advance our enterprise-wide risk program. This role will play a critical part in strengthening HBP’s ability to anticipate, assess, and manage risks across our global business, while enabling informed decision-making and long-term resilience.

Reporting to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, this role serves as a strategic partner to senior leaders and a key contributor to Board-level risk oversight (Audit & Risk Committee). This is a high-impact role suited for a thoughtful, collaborative leader who can translate complex risks into actionable business insights.

What you’ll do

  • Lead Enterprise Risk Management: Drive the evolution of HBP’s ERM framework, including risk identification, signal tracking, assessment, prioritization, and monitoring across the organization.

  • Enable Risk-Informed Decision-Making: Integrate ERM into business planning and financial forecasting processes to support more informed, risk-adjusted decisions across the organization. Work closely with leaders across business units and functions (e.g., Finance, Technology, Legal, Product) to embed risk awareness into strategic planning, forecasting, and operations.

  • Assess Enterprise & Emerging Risks: Evaluate key risks impacting HBP’s strategy and performance, including areas such as AI-driven disruption, cybersecurity, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and global market dynamics.

  • Deliver Executive & Board Reporting: Develop clear, concise risk dashboards and reports for senior leadership and the Audit & Risk Committee, highlighting key insights, trends, and recommendations.

  • Strengthen Risk Culture & Governance: Provide tools, guidance, and training to foster a consistent, risk-aware culture and strengthen enterprise governance practices.

  • Support Resilience & Preparedness: Provide leadership and contribution to crisis management, business continuity, and organizational resilience planning in coordination with cross-functional teams.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience building or maturing risk management frameworks/programs in a complex organization

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate risk into business impact

  • Executive presence and experience engaging with senior leadership and/or boards

  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, compliance, legal or related field

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

You’ll stand out if you have

  • Expertise in emerging risk areas (e.g., AI governance, cybersecurity, data privacy)

  • Experience in media, learning, or global organizations

$130,000 - $170,000

Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
