This is an individual contributor role where you’re expected to lead with insights that directly shape product adoption, as well as execute on them.

Responsibilities
  • Run customer research to uncover pain points, needs, and market gaps specific to our target audience.
  • Collect and synthetize customer feedback into actionable insights for the product roadmap.
  • Plan AND execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new features and products in collaboration with Product Managers
  • Develop clear, compelling marketing assets that support GTM launches like:
    • Landing pages
    • Sales enablement materials
    • Brochures
    • Social media carousels
  • Conduct user interviews, making sure we build tools that genuinely solve problems for our audience.
Requirements

Must have

  • A deep, firsthand understanding of the challenges and workflows that marketers face today, ideally through direct experience.
  • At least 5 years of practical, hands-on experience in a marketing role at a SaaS company.
  • Proven ability to perform customer research, analyze feedback, and translate it into product-shaping insights.
  • Experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies for SaaS products.
  • A strong data-driven mindset for measuring and iterating on marketing efforts.
  • A portfolio of your work/vibe-coded tools/personal projects that support your experience

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of SEO principles and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with Ahrefs products and how they're used by marketers.
  • Experience with content creation and sales enablement material development.
What Success Looks Like

In 6 months: You'll have built strong relationships with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams, actively contributing to product discussions and roadmap prioritization based on your market insights. You will have successfully executed at least one major feature launch, with demonstrable positive initial user sentiment and adoption. Your initial customer research efforts will be feeding directly into our product strategy.

In 1 year: You'll be seen as a critical thought partner in product strategy, proactively identifying opportunities for product growth and market differentiation. You'll have significantly influenced product direction, leading to measurable positive shifts in product usage, market perception, and overall growth. Your work will not only improve our products but also elevate our brand's reputation among leading industry professionals. You're not just executing; you're owning and shaping the future of our product marketing.

To apply:
  • Please include a link to your portfolio showing previous product marketing experience.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
