Today, 67% of students and 82% of low-income students can’t read at grade level by the end of third grade. That’s when students are supposed to go from learning to read to reading to learn. It’s America’s number one education crisis and we know how to fix it.

Ignite Reading delivers one-to-one virtual tutoring that teaches every student the foundational skills they need to become a confident, fluent reader. We pair students who need extra support with expert reading tutors who provide daily, 15-minute, Science of Reading-based instruction that rapidly closes their decoding gaps. We focus on the foundational reading skills—phonics, phonemic awareness, and sight words—kids need to master so they can decode a sentence. Students in Ignite Reading’s program achieve over 2 weeks of reading skills growth per week of instruction, and notably all students achieve the same outstanding results including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, students of color and those receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Ignite Reading is a mission-driven public benefit corporation. We believe we can do well for our team members and shareholders while we solve one of the nation’s biggest challenges. We believe we will be more successful with a diverse team and are seeking candidates who have lived experience related to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Your Role

The Product Marketing and Sales Enablement Manager owns how Ignite Reading's programs are positioned to sales, partners, and the districts we serve — and makes sure that story is one the field can repeat with confidence. Ignite Reading is scaling its targeted state growth strategy, and inbound requests from Sales and Partnerships have outpaced what the current marketing team can support; demand generation and content work are already stretched thin. This role combines product marketing and sales enablement into a single "two-for-one" position built for that growth: one person who quarterbacks sales support, translates product and market intelligence into messaging, and keeps state campaigns moving.

The ideal candidate is a broad generalist, comfortable moving between sales enablement, product marketing, and customer marketing depending on where the need is greatest that week.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Enablement (top priority)

  • Quarterback incoming requests from the sales team and act as their day-to-day point of contact

  • Serve as the direct liaison to Partnerships, keeping sales informed of new developments

  • Create and maintain sales collateral with a graphic designer: pitch decks, one-pagers, case studies, battlecards, state one-pagers, and objection-handling guides

  • Manage the sales content library and ensure materials stay current

Product Marketing

  • Embed in product, engineering, academics, and CX meetings to stay close to what's shipping and what customers are telling us

  • Develop product positioning, messaging, and differentiated value propositions

  • Translate customer, market, and competitor insights into messaging and sales guidance

  • Lead product launches and go-to-market readiness across Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success

State Campaigns

  • Own state-specific campaigns day to day, supporting the company's targeted state growth strategy

Customer Marketing

  • Develop customer testimonials and proof points

  • Produce a newsletter for current customers and prospects

  • Build customer nurture campaigns to increase renewals and expansion opportunities

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a key partner to Sales, Partnerships, Product, Engineering, Academics, and Customer Success — translating what's shipping and what customers need into clear go-to-market and enablement plans

  • Bring grounded, honest feedback from the field back into product and leadership conversations

  • Coordinate with external partners to keep messaging accurate and consistent everywhere it appears

Day-to-Day

  • Meet with Sales and Marketing leaders to prioritize enablement needs

  • Draft or update decks, battlecards, email templates, and case studies

  • Review CRM data and call feedback for trends in objections and deal friction

  • Prepare launch plans, internal briefings, and customer-facing materials

  • Coordinate with product, customer success, and external partners to keep messaging accurate and consistent

  • Maintain content in HubSpot and the team's shared knowledge base

Success Metrics

  • Sales content adoption and usage

  • Sales onboarding completion and time-to-productivity

  • Win rate, conversion rate, and sales-cycle impact for enabled opportunities

  • Pipeline influenced by product marketing campaigns

  • Product-launch readiness and on-time delivery

  • Reduction in recurring sales objections or content gaps

  • Number and quality of customer stories, case studies, and proof points produced

Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

  • 4–7 years of experience in product marketing, sales enablement, go-to-market, or a related B2B SaaS / education technology role

  • Experience partnering directly with sales teams and supporting a consultative sales motion

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex products into clear customer value

  • Experience building sales collateral, launch plans, and enablement programs

  • Comfort using data to evaluate content and program performance

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, fully remote environment

  • Early-literacy or education background is a plus, not a requirement

Preferred Systems + Tools

  • HubSpot and Asana

  • Google Workspace and Slack

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
