Company Description

About Patient Funding Alternatives (PFA)
At Patient Funding Alternatives (PFA), we remove the barriers that keep Medicaid-eligible and medically underserved people from getting the care they deserve. We partner with hospitals and health systems across the country to help patients secure coverage through employer-sponsored insurance, which simplifies the process for the patient, protects them financially, and improves outcomes for the hospital.

We are the only organization in the U.S. offering a full Premium Assistance Enrollment service supported by dedicated Patient Advocates working on-site inside partner hospitals.

PFA is growing quickly nationwide, and that growth rests on people who care about the patients in front of them. We believe our employees are our most valuable resource, and we work hard to protect a real work/life balance inside a culture built on empathy, teamwork, and respect.

The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare domain knowledge combined with hands-on product management or systems design consulting experience. They are comfortable working directly with executives, facilitating requirements gathering sessions, designing technology-enabled workflows, managing competing priorities, and driving initiatives from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Product Discovery & Business Partnership

  • Partner closely with operations, finance, patient advocacy, executive leadership, and other stakeholders to understand business objectives and operational challenges.

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to identify business needs and opportunities for improvement.

  • Document current-state and future-state workflows, business processes, and requirements.

  • Translate complex business needs into clear product requirements and implementation plans.

  • Help define product vision, priorities, and roadmap recommendations.

Agile Product Delivery

  • Create and maintain product backlogs, epics, features, and user stories.

  • Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements and remove delivery obstacles.

  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Support prioritization decisions using business value, effort, risk, and strategic alignment.

  • Ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives and user expectations.

Technology Solutions & Integration

  • Define business workflows, functional requirements, and integration needs for internally developed and third-party technology solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal technology teams and external vendors to evaluate solution capabilities and align them with business requirements.

  • Translate operational needs into clear requirements that guide solution design, configuration, and integration.

  • Partner with internal technical resources and vendors to coordinate implementation, testing, and deployment activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline business processes through technology.

  • Support solution adoption and evaluate whether implemented capabilities deliver the intended business value.

Stakeholder Communication & Change Management

  • Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to leadership.

  • Build alignment across business and technology teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop implementation plans, training materials, and adoption strategies.

  • Support organizational change management activities related to new technologies and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in healthcare technology, product management, systems design consulting, business analysis, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and translating them into technology solutions.

  • Experience designing workflows and documenting business processes and functional requirements.

  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.

  • Experience supporting implementation of internally developed or third-party technology solutions.

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Medicaid, healthcare payers, revenue cycle, patient engagement, care management, eligibility, or enrollment-related processes.

  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards, including APIs, HL7, or FHIR.

  • Experience with workflow design, process improvement, and operational transformation initiatives.

  • Experience working with both internally developed software and commercial off-the-shelf platforms.
