Title: Senior Product Manager, Device Management
Location: Remote US, with preference for Boston or NYC.
About Toast:
Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.
Are you bready* for a change? (Team Info)
Toast is looking for a Senior Product Manager to take end-to-end ownership of our Device Management strategy. This role will serve as the dedicated owner of the Android Systems team, while also driving the cross-team strategy, vision, and execution of Device Management priorities across Device Software.
This is a software PM role with hardware fluency required. You’ll directly partner across Device Software and Hardware teams to manage core R&D activities — including requirements gathering, development, QA tracking, and rollouts. Delivering on this end-to-end product means driving changes across devices, single-purpose applications (SPAs), and backend services.
You’ll collaborate closely within the Device Software and Hardware triads (Product, Engineering, Design, and QA) and partner with PMs across Toast, including go-to-market and customer-facing teams, to ensure device management capabilities deliver on both support experience improvements and enterprise-scale milestones.
You’ll be joining a team on the front lines of Toast’s mission to help restaurants thrive — by ensuring the devices our customers depend on are reliable, secure, and intelligently managed.
About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Lead the device management strategy and roadmap, ensuring strong alignment within Device Software and Hardware, as well as more broadly across Toast.
- Act as the single-threaded owner for all device management initiatives, driving end-to-end execution.
- Partner across Device Software and Hardware triads (Product, Engineering, Design, QA) to manage core R&D activities — requirements gathering, development, QA tracking, and rollouts.
- Deliver end-to-end product outcomes by driving changes across devices, single-purpose applications (SPAs), and backend services.
- Collaborate with PMs across Device Software, as well as PMs and go-to-market and customer-facing teams across Toast, to ensure device management capabilities improve support experiences for both customers and internal teams, while also delivering enterprise-scale value.
- Define and execute a product vision that balances platform enablement with monetizable customer-facing product opportunities.
- Mentor Device Software PMs, helping them grow their product craft and decision-making skills.
- Use data tools (Splunk, Snowflake, Hex, Sigma, etc.) to define success metrics, analyze performance, and guide roadmap priorities.
Do you have the right ingredients*:
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of product management experience with proven success owning large, complex products end-to-end.
- Strong experience leading in triad environments (Product, Engineering, Design) plus QA across at least two dev teams.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in software + hardware contexts, ideally within Android Open Source Project environments.
- Skilled at strategy development, roadmap ownership, and project managing cross-functional programs through ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills, able to influence across multiple teams and functions.
- Data fluency with tools such as Splunk, Snowflake, Hex, and Sigma.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with enterprise customers and IT managers.
- Prior experience building, launching, or managing Mobile Device Management (MDM) products.
- Background in building both platform products and monetizable customer-facing solutions, including freemium and PLG-led motions.
- Experience mentoring or coaching PMs.
- Familiarity with AI-powered product development; bonus if you’ve built or shipped AI-driven capabilities (helpful as Toast expands its Toast IQ initiative).
