Senior Product Manager, Coding

Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own, shape, and scale our Coding product: an intelligent system that helps hospitals optimize their coding practices, improving accuracy, compliance, and revenue outcomes. As the Senior PM for Coding, you’ll define how SmarterDx leverages AI to mate coding workflows, surface missed opportunities, and ensure hospitals fully capture the value of care delivered.

This role requires a deep understanding of revenue cycle management and hospital coding, strong technical fluency to stand up complex detection and classification workflows, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with focus and precision. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, design, and client teams to deliver a product that meaningfully improves hospital financial and operational performance.

**This role is fully remote within the US**

What You’ll Do

  • Gain a deep understanding of hospital coding workflows, user needs, and the broader RCM ecosystem.
  • Lead product discovery and design of our coding platform, from model detection logic to workflow integration and validation experiences.
  • Translate coding rules and compliance frameworks into scalable AI-driven logic.
  • Partner with data science and engineering to define, test, and deploy new algorithms and classification models that enhance coding accuracy and throughput.
  • Prioritize features and define success metrics based on business value, impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Engage directly with customers and coding leaders to gather feedback, refine product requirements, and validate product-market fit.
  • Write clear, actionable documentation (PRDs, release notes, user stories) that align cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and execute a roadmap that evolves our coding product from MVP to full-scale deployment.
  • Drive internal and external alignment around product strategy, go-to-market priorities, and success outcomes.

What You Bring

  • 3–5+ years of product management experience, with direct experience in hospital coding, revenue cycle management, or CDI workflows.
  • Proven ability to understand complex clinical workflows and translate them into intuitive, efficient software experiences.
  • Demonstrated success standing up complex AI algorithms, detection workflows, or classification systems from the ground up.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership: comfortable working closely with engineering, data science, design, and client-facing teams.
  • Track record of delivering measurable financial or operational impact for healthcare providers.
  • Experience in early-stage or high-growth environments, with comfort operating in ambiguity and iterating quickly from 0→1→2.
  • Excellent communication and systems thinking — able to connect clinical nuance, technical architecture, and business outcomes seamlessly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a software engineer, data engineer, or technical background in AI/ML.
  • Proficiency in SQL or similar data querying tools.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, or DRG coding standards and payer compliance requirements.
Compensation
  • $185k to $210k base + equity
