We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Product Management team within our athenaCollector division. Your job will involve ownership of complex and/or multiple products areas within Collector’s portfolio. This includes understanding the market and customer, contributing to a product vision, developing business cases and driving the creation and delivery of the product.

The Team:

The Authorization Management team serves our clients by providing tools and technology to enable practices to processing prior authorizations.  In partnership with the Operations organization, we deliver best in class products to athenaOne customers to reduce the burden that practices feel when managing complex authorization workflows.   

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Product Manager to help guide product discovery, development and delivery as we modernize the athenaOne prior authorization experience and empower our clients to manage their practices to excellence using emerging capabilities in the prior authorization space.  You will work closely with user experience and market-facing teams to understand client end user and leadership goals, and you will collaborate across athenahealth’s product subdivisions to prioritize the product roadmap for your team, and ensure delivery of high-quality, high-impact features to align with the needs of clients. You will work closely with our engineering and UX leaders as we build and deliver on our vision to provide actionable insights and meaningful transparency to our customers.

You push and strive toward the best long-term solution while executing against that plan day-to-day.  You can make the tough trade off decisions between scope and schedule, while maintaining true focus on outcomes.   

You are someone who demonstrates extensive experience with product and software design, development, and deployment; including ensuring the team has a right mix of skills and leveraging the strengths of the individual team members. 

This is a hybrid role based in our Boston office with the expectation to be in the office one day a week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of customer jobs to solve within area of responsibility   

  • Define epics and user stories, clearly articulating business requirements for the problems we’re trying to solve - including UX/CX/Support requirements   

  • Understand the market opportunity via user needs, market forces and applicable business models; with regards to what would best serve our clients today as well as in the future   

  • Identify and track metrics and success criteria to create transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement – Requesting analyses to inform backlog   

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization   

  • Serve as Product Owner for scrum teams covering assigned product area   

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to drive portfolio and product strategy  

  • Engage with Sales, AM, Product Marketing, and other internal partner teams as needed to determine best ways to communicate product to customers; and to assist Product Management leadership with service descriptions   

  • Contribute to the development of overall product management team by lending your knowledge and experience to teach others what you know  

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required

  • 7+ years overall professional experience, inclusive of a minimum of 4-6 years of product management experience 

  • Experience working with Agile (Scrum) teams desired 

  • Understanding of healthcare / health IT environment a plus 

  • Experience testing and validating value of products in the market 

  • Demonstrated success at driving vision and prioritization of products in a dynamic environment using analytic and quantitative capabilities 

  • Ability to explain your positioning to various people around the company in an effective way 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with senior leaders and customers
