We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to own major consumer-facing experiences across our website and mobile apps. It's a new kind of product, so many of the patterns don't exist yet, you’ll be defining them. We're looking for someone who can make that work genuinely beautiful and have it hold up under real-world edge cases.
What you'll own
- Set the visual direction across major consumer-facing flows, end to end, web and mobile.
- Turn ambiguity into a point of view. You'll get fuzzy problems and be expected to return a sharp, opinionated answer grounded in user insight and business reality.
- Prototype at real fidelity. Clickable, testable, on-device. Figma is the floor, not the ceiling; you'll be pushing prototypes into the codebase so handoff becomes a review instead of a translation.
- Work directly with PM and engineering from day one. Small team, no design-by-committee.
- Raise the bar around you using crits, patterns, and mentoring the designers you work alongside
- Your work looks like it was made this year. You pay attention to where consumer product design is actually going, what the best apps are doing right now, not what was in a pattern library three years ago.
- Your visual craft survives close inspection. Type, spacing, and hierarchy you'd defend line by line, pixel by pixel. Restraint over decoration.
- Taste is non-negotiable. We can teach you our product, our constraints, and our codebase. We can't teach you to know when something is good.
- You design the states nobody screenshots. Empty, error, loading, and the messy version of reality; the car's late, the card declines, the member changes their mind in the parking lot. Same care as the hero screen.
- You've shipped consumer products at scale. 5+ years of experience designing digital products, with a portfolio of shipped work across both desktop web and mobile screen sizes.
- You're a UX thinker, not just a stylist. Information architecture, flows, research, usability testing, accessibility. You prototype, test, and revise.
- You use AI as a serious part of your practice, and you hold AI-assisted work to exactly the same standard as everything else you put your name on.
- You can explain a decision to a skeptical room of PMs, engineers, and leadership, without either caving or getting defensive.
- Bonus: you've worked in a shared codebase with branches and PRs; you have marketplace, subscription, automotive, or fintech experience.
A few things to know
- This role is fully onsite at our downtown Boston office, five days a week — remote and hybrid arrangements aren’t available.
- For candidates relocating to Boston, we offer a relocation package to help make the move easier.
- The pace is real. We ship fast. We'll be specific about what that looks like on our first call.
- We're still building our design foundations. If you're looking for an established design system and a large design team already in place, that isn't here yet; you'd be helping create it.
What Tops Off the Tank
