At Klaviyo, we're building the platform that helps businesses create and deliver personalized customer experiences at scale, powered by first-party data.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join the Design System team and help evolve Ascent, Klaviyo’s design system. You'll define and scale the reusable components, patterns, tokens, documentation, and standards that help teams ship faster, creating a more consistent and usable product experience across Klaviyo.
This role sits at the intersection of product design, engineering, and systems thinking. You'll partner across product teams to improve design-to-code parity, drive adoption, and use AI and automation to reduce manual friction while maintaining a high bar for quality, accessibility, and system integrity.
- Evolve Ascent's components, patterns, tokens, interaction standards, and documentation across Klaviyo's product surfaces.
- Partner with engineering to improve design-to-code parity and ensure coded components reflect design intent.
- Identify inconsistencies, gaps, and duplicated patterns across product teams, then turn them into scalable system improvements.
- Own the end-to-end design process from conceptualization to discovery, and in some cases all the way to implementation.
- Support adoption through clear guidance, design critiques, spec reviews, office hours, workshops, and release communications.
- Use AI and automation to accelerate prototyping, documentation, design specs, accessibility checks, visual QA, and system maintenance.
- Strong product design experience with a portfolio that shows high-quality UX, interaction, and visual design craft.
- Experience building, maintaining, or scaling a design system within a complex product organization.
- Strong systems thinking, with the ability to spot patterns, simplify complexity, and design for reuse across large product surfaces.
- Working knowledge of design tokens, accessibility standards such as WCAG, and how system decisions map to frontend implementation.
- Ability to partner deeply with engineers, PMs, brand designers, writers, and stakeholders to align teams without relying on authority.
- AI-first builder mindset, using tools like Claude, Cursor, v0, Figma Make or similar to explore ideas, prototype, generate code, and improve system workflows.
- Experience with Storybook, code-level component documentation, Git, or design system release workflows.
- Experience with complex, data-rich SaaS products.
- Expertise in Figma component architecture, variables, styles, libraries, and scalable design workf
