We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Tool and Application Development team within the Platform Engineering organization. This team is responsible for designing, building and modernizing internal applications and tools that enhance the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), streamline developer workflows, and improve engineering productivity.
In this role, you will contribute as a full-stack developer with strong system design and DevOps mindset. You will work on a diverse range of initiatives—from building custom internal applications to refactoring legacy tools and incorporating modern, AI-driven automation. Your work will be foundational to scaling our development infrastructure and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
This position is ideal for engineers who are passionate about developer experience, enjoy solving technical challenges collaboratively, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Stack Development: Design, implement, and maintain internal web applications and services that support engineering teams and workflows.
- Modernization Projects: Contribute to the re-architecture and modernization of legacy tools using scalable, maintainable technologies focused on performance, usability, and reliability.
- Technology Integration: Leverage a diverse technology stack—including ObjectScript, OAuth2, Python, Node.js, SQL, and containerized environments—to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
- CI/CD Enablement: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, enabling efficient and automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Observability & Reliability: Implement and maintain observability solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with engineers, product managers, and other platform teams to identify pain points and deliver impactful solutions.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in Software Development, Platform Engineering, or DevOps roles.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in at least one major language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js, ObjectScript, Go) with proficiency in both frontend and backend development.
- Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
- DevOps & Tooling: Experience with CI/CD pipeline development (e.g., GitlLab CI), and familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Perforce, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
- Security Awareness: Practical experience implementing secure authentication/authorization protocols like OAuth2 in web applications.
- Adaptability & Initiative: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience mentoring junior engineers and guiding interns or small project teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Observability: Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and related observability tools.
- Atlassian Tools: Experience with the Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
- Testing & Automation: Experience with commonly available software testing tools and automation frameworks.
- InterSystems Technologies: Experience with InterSystems IRIS and ObjectScript, or a strong interest in learning them.
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
