About Solace

Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisions—and get better outcomes.

We're a Series C startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. Our U.S. based team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.

Solace isn't a place to coast. We're here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you're looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you're in the right place. We’re intense, and we like it that way.

About the Role

We’re looking for a People Partner who thrives in fast-moving startup environments and enjoys building practical, scalable people systems that help managers and teams perform at a high level.

This role reports directly to the Head of People and will partner closely with leaders and managers across the company to support organizational effectiveness, manager capability, and employee experience as Solace continues to scale.

This is a highly execution-oriented role. You’ll work directly with managers and employees to improve performance management, onboarding, team effectiveness, manager coaching, and organizational health. You’ll help operationalize many of Solace’s core People programs while also navigating real-time employee and organizational situations with strong judgment, empathy, and accountability.

This will be the first dedicated hire within our People Partner function and an opportunity to help shape how the role evolves as the company grows. While this role will support company-wide People programs and initiatives, the day-to-day partnership model will likely focus primarily on our Clinical, Operations, Marketing, and Customer Experience organizations.

This role is ideal for someone who started their career in People Ops, Recruiting Operations, or Talent Operations at a high-growth company and has since grown into a People Partner or HRBP-style role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to the work — building processes, coaching managers, solving problems quickly, and helping a scaling organization operate more effectively.

This is not a pure strategy or executive advisory role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in the day-to-day work of building and running People programs in a startup environment.

What You’ll Work OnManager Enablement & Performance
  • Help run and continuously improve performance review and calibration processes

  • Support managers with performance conversations, feedback, accountability, and coaching

  • Build practical manager resources, templates, and training materials

  • Help define performance expectations and promotion guidance across teams

  • Partner with leaders to improve manager effectiveness and team health

  • Support rollout and operational execution of People programs and processes

Employee Relations & Team Support
  • Support employee relations processes and help navigate sensitive team situations

  • Coach managers through performance concerns, team dynamics, and difficult conversations

  • Partner with leadership and Legal when needed on more complex employee matters

  • Help create consistent and scalable ER documentation and workflows

  • Ensure employees and managers have a thoughtful, fair, and high-accountability experience

Organizational Effectiveness
  • Support org planning discussions, team changes, and workforce planning processes

  • Help identify retention risks, team health concerns, and organizational gaps

  • Partner with leaders during onboarding, promotions, and team scaling

  • Contribute to talent planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives as the company grows

People Programs & Operations
  • Support career development and growth initiatives across the company

  • Partner cross-functionally to improve employee experience and organizational effectiveness

  • Build documentation, workflows, and operational infrastructure that help the People team scale effectively

What We’re Looking For
  • 5–8 years of experience in People Ops, HRBP, Talent Operations, or People Partner roles

  • Experience working in high-growth startup environments

  • Strong manager coaching and employee relations experience

  • Experience supporting and running performance management processes

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly

  • Builder mindset with strong operational instincts

  • Ability to balance empathy with accountability and business judgment

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Experience creating processes, documentation, and scalable manager workflows

  • Someone who enjoys being hands-on and execution-oriented, not purely strategic

Why This Role Is Different

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys operating as a hands-on builder in startup environments rather than leading large HR organizations. The scope is broad, but the work is highly collaborative, practical, and execution-focused. You’ll have the opportunity to shape foundational People programs while staying closely connected to managers, employees, and the day-to-day realities of scaling a company.

Applicants must be based in the United States.

Up for the Challenge?

We look forward to meeting you.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
