About the Team

At Workday, our PBP team builds resilient organizations, enables leaders to operate at scale, and amplifies our employee-first culture. You will be joining a global team of talented People Business Partners (HRPB) leading our talent strategy for the Workday Education organization at Workday focusing on helping our business grow & scale in this space.
We are looking for a People Business Partner who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced and outcome-focused environment that has a bias for action. This individual needs to be collaborative, able to lead a high performing (matrixed) team with speed, and balance both strategic thinking and execution (because we don’t create value with ideas we can’t deliver!).

About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Consultative: Proactively builds strong relationships, facilitates thoughtful dialogue, thinks strategically and advises on all things related to People & Talent.

  • Problem Solves: Identifies the source of problems leveraging data and insights, develops solutions, and implements solutions in partnerships with the ecosystem of HR Centers of Excellence.

  • Talent Strategy and Executive Coaching: This role is hands-on when it comes to Executive Coaching, Workforce Planning, and Talent Management initiatives like succession planning and leadership development.

  • Business Acumen: The successful candidate thinks like a business leader with deep understanding of HR fundamentals and embodies Workday’s culture and core values.

  • Projects & Programs: deliver programs that move talent strategies forward including enterprise programs across the employee lifecycle (e.g., annual compensation planning, calibration, and succession planning) and function-specific programs that span multiple quarters (tied to long-term transformations and people strategies).

  • Program delivery is only one step of the process though. The essence of this portion of the role is all about ensuring thoughtful localization of programs in order to increase program effectiveness and adoption. This is achieved by integrating each function’s people strategy with the outcomes and purpose of the enterprise programs.

About You

Your expertise in strategic partnering and your established trustworthiness as a coach enable you to regularly influence the organization’s scale and culture. Workday People Business Partners are highly visible members of the leadership team and are comfortable in various settings, whether it involves leading discussions on organizational design and effectiveness or providing one-on-one executive coaching.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience in an HR role partnering with executives to build high-performing teams and lead change.

  • Strong business acumen—demonstrated ability to learn business objectives quickly and influence talent and org decisions that impact business outcomes.

  • Experience building an annual org strategy and talent plan that sets clear talent priorities and actions that result in highly engaged people in the best possible roles, doing the best work of their live.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to take direct ownership of interpreting data and using data to influence decision making.

  •  Experience framing organizational design options that accelerate speed and reduce friction in getting work accomplished.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience diagnosing and building leadership team capabilities, at senior levels, with courage and candor.

  • Experience identifying opportunities to lead change, and experience building these change leadership skills in others.

  • Experience building relationships across the HR function as well as across executive teams, within and outside of the core client groups.

  • Experience building trusted relationships with executives as well as managers and employees.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
