Where we work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the Austin office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.


About your skills

  • Research Design & Execution: You independently design and execute mixed-methods research projects from kick-off through reporting, selecting appropriate methodologies to answer complex business questions with minimal oversight.

  • Quantitative Analysis & Statistical Rigor: You apply advanced quantitative methods including choice modeling and MaxDiffs, designing surveys and interpreting data with statistical precision to drive reliable business decisions.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Insight Translation: You build strong cross-organizational relationships and translate complex research findings into actionable recommendations that align with marketing and product strategies.

  • Strategic Market Intelligence & Foresight: You uncover market opportunities and evaluate competitive positioning, with a deep understanding of how evolving market dynamics influence advertising performance, value propositions, and global content strategy.


About this role

As a Senior Market Researcher, you'll lead end-to-end research initiatives that inform Udemy's market strategy and product development across global markets. You'll leverage data analytics skills to analyze large datasets and apply competitive intelligence and foresight research to anticipate market shifts and emerging trends. Working closely with marketing, product, and leadership teams, you'll deliver actionable insights that drive business growth, customer understanding, and long-term strategic planning.


What you’ll be doing 

  • Design and execute pricing and packaging studies using advanced methodologies including MaxDiff, conjoint analysis, choice modeling, and other quantitative techniques to optimize product offerings and revenue strategies.

  • Build relationships with stakeholders across departments to understand research needs and translate findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

  • Present research results to leadership teams to inform marketing and product strategies that drive company growth and market positioning.

  • Leverage SQL skills to analyze large datasets and identify market trends, customer behaviors, and growth opportunities across global markets.

  • Conduct foresight research to identify emerging trends, monitor shifts in the competitive landscape, and assess how Udemy’s positioning may need to evolve in response to future market dynamics.

  • Select and manage vendor relationships for advanced research projects requiring specialized expertise or expanded capabilities.

  • Manage and optimize existing tracking programs to ensure continuous measurement of key market indicators and customer satisfaction metrics.


What you’ll have

  • 5+ years of applied research experience with at least 3 years specifically in market research, OR relevant graduate degree (statistics, marketing, sociology, etc.) with 3+ years of market research experience.

  • Advanced quantitative research expertise, including survey design, fielding, analysis, statistical testing, choice modeling, MaxDiff, and conjoint analysis methodologies, with demonstrated success applying these methods across both B2B and B2C contexts.

  • SQL proficiency for independent data analysis and ability to work with large datasets to extract actionable insights.

  • Competitive intelligence and/ foresight experience with a proven ability to monitor market trends, analyze competitor strategies, and assess market positioning.

  • Statistical software proficiency in tools such as SPSS, Stata, R, or MarketSight, plus experience with survey platforms like SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics.

  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills with ability to create compelling slides, graphs, and charts that effectively communicate complex research findings to leadership.

  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, data visualization, and chart creation for analysis and reporting.

  • Vendor management experience with ability to select, negotiate with, and oversee external research partners for specialized projects.
