The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor leads a team of manufacturing engineers and/or technicians while providing technical leadership to support manufacturing operations and strategic business objectives. This role combines people leadership with hands-on engineering expertise to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, new product commercialization and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring compliance with Boston Scientific's Quality System.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
This position follows an on-site work model and requires employees to work from the designated Boston Scientific facility. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.
Your responsibilities will include:
● Supervise, lead and provide technical direction to a team of manufacturing engineers and/or technicians while contributing directly to the technical responsibilities of the department.
● Partner with the manager to provide coaching, guidance and development opportunities that support employee growth, engagement and performance.
● Assist with recruiting, hiring and retaining a high-performing engineering team.
● Support the development of departmental goals, objectives and budgets aligned with business priorities.
● Assist with workforce planning and resource allocation to meet operational and project needs.
● Prioritize, manage and execute multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
● Lead manufacturing engineering initiatives, including Value Improvement Process (VIP), Strategic Activity Review (STAR) and new product development projects.
● Lead cross-functional engineering teams to successfully achieve project objectives, timelines and deliverables.
● Build and maintain effective partnerships across manufacturing, quality, operations, research and development and other functional teams.
● Identify, troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and engineering issues to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
● Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and quality system requirements.
● Represent Manufacturing Engineering on new product development teams and support successful product commercialization.
● Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality processes and procedures.
People leadership responsibilities:
● Ensure appropriate personnel, equipment and resources are available to maintain compliance with the Quality System and the Boston Scientific Quality Policy.
● Foster a work environment that promotes quality, continuous improvement, accountability and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
● Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing engineering, operations engineering or a related engineering environment.
● Minimum of 2 years' experience leading, supervising or mentoring engineering or technical teams.
● Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects and driving operational improvements.
● Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
● Experience supporting new product development, manufacturing transfer or process improvement initiatives.
● Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
● Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
● Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Preferred qualifications:
● Previous medical device or other highly regulated industry experience.
● Experience leading Value Improvement Process (VIP), Strategic Activity Review (STAR) or comparable continuous improvement initiatives.
● Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering business results.
● Experience with resource planning, budgeting and organizational development.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
