Join the movement as a Builder on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team at Johnson Controls, as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer located in Burlington, MA. As a Builder on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team at Johnson Controls, you'll join a team of sleeve-rollers who set a high bar for themselves and their co-workers. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification, development, and commissioning manufacturing equipment for testing coldplates and producing products at scale. You will report to the Sr. Manager of the Machines team and lead a cross-functional program team dedicated to scaling up the manufacturing line for JCI Stack Forging’s thermal management offerings. This position requires an onsite presence in Burlington, MA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, or able to relocate. Only US citizens and/or Permanent Residents of the US will be considered, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

How you will do it

  • Manufacturing system design: Design, develop, and commission scalable assembly systems for high-volume thermal system production. 

  • Testing system development: Develop and implement automated testing systems (e.g., performance, reliability, and leak testing) for coldplates and thermal systems. 

  • Vendor selection and management: Own the technical selection, procurement, and qualification of high-value capital equipment required for automated testing and assembly. 

  • Program management: Lead the manufacturing scale-up project for thermal system production, including defining resourcing, setting timelines, and establishing milestones. 

  • Technical leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on manufacturing for coldplates and thermal systems. Set and maintain the technical standards for manufacturing quality, process control (e.g., PFMEAs), and reliability. 

  • Mentorship: Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, production engineers, and production staff. 

What you will need
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing 

  • 3+ years of experience with commissioning capital equipment 

  • 2+ years of experience with thermal-fluid systems 

Preferred

  • Proven expertise with Lean Manufacturing principles. 

  • Direct experience with metal joining and fitting processes, preferably in a thermal management context. 

  • Experience in high-volume mass production environments (e.g., automotive, consumer electronics, or high-power computing/data center). 

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. 

  • Proficiency with 3D software tools for design, inspection, or CAM. 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $160,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
