General/Position Summary
The Real World Analytics (RWA) Senior Manager leads the execution of statistical analysis plans for observational research conducted by the RWE researchers ). The Senior Manager also advises on fit-for-purpose database selection, guides patient population selection, performs QC as needed and manages workload in support of one or more therapeutic areas. The (RWA) Senior Manager is a hybrid role requiring two core skills sets: statistical programming and project management.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Executes on statistical analysis and programming plans. Ensure quality and timely deliverables for all assigned studies/projects.
- Advises on database selection, patient population selection and statistical analysis plans
- Lead RWD analytics QC including training and enforcing SAS programming standards for Vertex relevant disease states across RWE
- Tracks and archives RWA projects in accordance with department standards
- Remains current on medical coding systems and relevant large healthcare databases; develops and maintains statistical programming skills
- Actively participates in the identification, evaluation and prioritization of potential database acquisitions/licenses; Supports the vendor licensing and contracting processes.
- Supports staff with new software, programming techniques, and databases. Partners with Data, Technology and Engineering (DTE) to advance RWA technology competencies through the agile adoption of novel techniques, programming languages, and analytics
- Provides data management support for RWE observational studies as needed
Required Education Level
- PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, health policy, or similar with minimum 1 -3 years statistical programming experience or
- Masters degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or related field and 5-8 years statistical programming experience.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrated experience with statistical programming and analysis of RWD including medical and pharmacy billing claims, electronic health records, disease registries, etc.
- Technical competence in efficient SAS programming methods and other relevant data analytics software and languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R)
- Attention to detail is critical, as is adhering to standards and procedures.
- Good organizational and written/verbal communication skills required.
- Good interpersonal, leadership, and influence management skills are also important.
- Strong study and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute observational research, including data management experience with observational studies and/or clinical trials.
- Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment
- Formal training in Epidemiology/Health Services Research or related is required

Pay Range:
$148,900 - $223,400Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
