SMX is seeking a dynamic Sr. Manager of Sales within our Global Defense Business Unit to drive growth in the Department of Defense market. This is a unique opportunity to help build and scale a mission-focused portfolio while leveraging SMX's national leadership position in cloud and mission-focused digital transformation solutions.
As our Sr. Manager of Sales, you'll be responsible for developing sales campaigns, building robust pipelines, closing sales, and driving growth for cutting-edge cloud-based platform solutions that directly support national defense missions. This role combines the entrepreneurial spirit of a startup environment with the resources and reputation of an established technology leader.
Your primary focus will be establishing and maintaining relationships with key DoD stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers, briefing senior government and industry officials on technical and acquisition matters, and managing the complete sales lifecycle from initial contact through award. This position focuses on FFP and as a Service (aaS) based offerings and short to mid-cycle sales. You'll leverage your deep understanding of cloud, cyber, IT, and digital modernization to sell compelling solutions that address specific customer challenges, translating customer pain points into sales while maintaining competitive intelligence within Federal and commercial sectors. While this role is primarily individual contributor focused, you'll work closely with internal teams including business development, program management, and solution architecture to coordinate growth resources and develop winning proposals.
This position requires a DoD Secret with eligibility for TS/SCI which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leverage expert understanding of cloud offerings to sell solutions that solve customer pain points
- Drive growth, build relationships, and effectively portray technology solution offerings
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape and existing contracts within the Federal and commercial marketplace
- Establish, develop, and maintain relationships across SMX and with Federal clients, stakeholders, and influencers
- Interact with and brief senior government, industry technical and acquisition officials
- Manage and execute the full short and mid cycle sales in DoD and other customer domains within federal markets
Required Skills & Experience
- Required clearance: Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI
- Proactive, organized, assertive, and highly-skilled sales professional
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 6 years of related sales or BD experience in the Federal IT market (technical sales experience preferred)
- Experience (minimum 3 years) selling or supporting solutions for the DoD mission; Working knowledge of Federal missions, cultures, organizational components, leadership, major programs, challenges, and buying trends
- Track record of successfully capturing and winning >$20M multi-year new business
- Demonstrated ability to develop and foster new relationships
- Experience with contributing to proposals and the RFI, RFQ, or RFP process
- Strong communication and presentation skills, while maintaining a positive attitude, strong drive for results
- Derive and effectively communicate customer strategies and desires through actionable insight from deep-dive programmatic research and analysis

- Knowledge and experience with Cyber Operations, ITSM and Managed Services
