Position Summary
CVS Health, one of the top companies in the United States, and Aetna, a business unit of CVS Health, is seeking a Senior Manager of Corporate Communications to oversee and execute a comprehensive executive communications strategy as well as lead executive communications for key business leaders, including the President and Chief Operating Officer. This position will guide the development, execution and continuous measurement of our executive thought leadership strategy across lines of business and enabling functions in support of our overall reputation management efforts - including competitive positioning and differentiation of Aetna in the marketplace - to a range of audiences. This position will work in collaboration with the Office of the President and a small team of communications resources to flawlessly execute external and internal communications priorities and tactics against a robust executive communications plan – including monthly executive messages, periodic podcasts, quarterly town halls, social media strategy and more. They will work closely with Human Resources leadership to determine key cultural initiatives and messages for amplification to our approximate 50,000 Aetna colleagues.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Communications for Aetna, the ideal candidate will help successfully identify internal and external thought leadership opportunities to allow us to position Aetna for growth and tell our value story as CVS Health.
Your ability to partner with and support senior executives and colleagues across the CVS Health enterprise, including Strategy, Marketing, Government Affairs, Community Affairs, the CVS Health enterprise communications team and Aetna business unit to ensure alignment of strategies is critical to success in this position. You will utilize your experience with critical thinking across multiple disciplines to support execution of plans with in-house talent as well as our agency of record.
You will be a key member of the Enterprise Communications team and will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues focused on multiple lines of business, as well as corporate centers of excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted, strategic communications advisor to the Executive Director and Vice President of Aetna Communications; the broader Aetna Communications team, key Aetna and enterprise communications leaders.
- Lead the development, project management and implementation of a strategic executive thought leadership communications strategy to proactively protect and build our brand reputation in support of strategic business priorities.
- Coordinate the execution of the executive thought leadership communications strategy across Aetna communications leads for their respective business leaders and in alignment with the enterprise communications strategy.
- Have a proven track record of producing and editing clear, concise, compelling and clean copy and executive messaging covering complex subjects on tight deadlines.
- Align with our vendors and in-house talent in support of our overall communications strategy, including timely delivery of collateral assets.
- Stay abreast of an ever-changing environment to develop recommendations to adapt and influence outcome.
- Proactively pull in, share and adopt insights from broader company communications department (Enterprise Communications) and directly from the Aetna Communications team members
- Develop and refine key performance metrics to demonstrate effectiveness and contribution to the overall strategy
Required Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to succinctly but persuasively share information across both internal and external audiences
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Strong performance accountability orientation, both in terms of following through on commitments and deadlines
- Strategic and analytical thinker, with superior problem-solving skills and the ability to support tactical execution without losing site of the overall strategy
- Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to advance communications goals via social and digital channels
- Experienced in developing key performance metrics that resonate with multiple internal audiences
- Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external parties
- Experience sourcing stories and developing a story pipeline across an industry or at a large organization
- Excellent executive presence and verbal communication skills
- High degree of professionalism and executive presence required to interface with executives on a regular basis and partner with business owners
- Understanding of best practices across all channels including social media, website content, internal communications
- An interest and ability to effectively deliver in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel, as needed, in support of business needs
- 7+ years of experience in increasingly responsible communications leadership roles, including experience with internal and external communications.
- Experience in healthcare, insurance and/or consulting is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Executive communications strategy experience in the health insurance or related healthcare industries is preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree and or equivalent years of education and experience
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
