The Opportunity

As a member of our dynamic legal team, you will report to the Senior Director of Legal Operations and be directly responsible for implementation, maintenance and oversight of Relay Tx’s contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform and processes. You will be responsible for independently reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, overseeing the contract approval process, leading contract data integrity initiatives and implementing process improvements.

The Role

  • You will lead end-to-end contract negotiation strategy and execution for a wide range of agreements such as master service agreements, software license agreements, consulting agreements, clinical trial agreements and additional agreements typical of the drug discovery industry
  • You will lead requirements gathering, requests for proposals, selection, implementation and maintenance of a CLM platform, including platform administration, workflow enhancements and reporting
  • You will identify, pilot and scale AI and automation tools (e.g., AI-assisted contract review, generative drafting and clause libraries)
  • You will develop and refine contracting processes, templates, playbooks and negotiation best practices
  • You will act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, independently providing guidance on contract terms
  • You will lead the tracking and management of contract lifecycle activities including renewals, amendments and change orders
  • You will provide daily oversight of software integration between CLM and purchase order platforms
  • You will coordinate with Relay’s finance team to ensure smooth end-to-end process from contract initiation through invoicing
  • You will analyze CLM data to identify areas of focus; determine and execute data cleanup initiatives
  • You will develop CLM metrics, reports and dashboard views in collaboration with individual departments based on their specific needs
  • You will assist in training and enforcement of legal processes and policies
  • You will support the legal team with budget management, invoice processing and a wide variety of ad hoc projects within the team as needs arise

Your Background

  • You have a minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibility within a contracts management role
  • You have experience independently reviewing, drafting, redlining and negotiating a variety of contracts within the life sciences industry
  • You have a knack for learning new systems and platforms, including an enthusiasm for testing and implementing AI-enabled legal technology and understanding where human expertise is essential
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • You are recognized as having a high degree of emotional intelligence
  • You have an unwavering commitment to personal and professional ethics and integrity
  • You have the ability to move projects forward by seeking information and gaining support from stakeholders
  • You enjoy collaborative problem-solving to streamline processes

Estimated Salary Range: [$114,000 - $188,000].

The range provided above is based on what we believe to be a reasonable estimate for this job at the time of posting. Actual base salary will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s education, experience, skills and location.
