The Manulife/John Hancock AI Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a strong focus on deploying end-to-end data science models and solutions to accelerate and optimize sales and marketing efforts. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers, BI Specialists, Sales and Marketing Leaders, and IT partners to execute AI and Advanced Analytics initiatives that will shape the future of our business.  The team implements a wide range of traditional ML models as well as cutting-edge LLM approaches.  As a MLE, you will lead the development and deployment of innovative approaches to optimize existing and new machine learning systems, unlocking their full potential to drive maximum business value. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop machine learning models and applications on cloud platforms like Azure Databricks and AKS, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Solve business problems by deploying LLM/ Generative AI solutions by using RAG, Azure AI Search and other techniques.
  • Design and develop ML models to address distribution and marketing efficiencies, including recommendation systems, content generation and competition optimization.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the performance of machine learning models through data analysis and testing
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to plan, scope, implement, and sustain predictive analytics solutions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI technologies and methodologies, and evaluate their potential applications to improve our AI engineering processes.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's (and at least 5 years of experience working in AI/ Data Science) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Hands on experience with Azure cloud tools, such as Databricks, AI Foundry, AI Search, Kubernetes
  • Strong background with Python and SQL, experience using both for data analysis and orchestration. 
  • Experience in applying analytics and AI tools in Marketing and Sales functions. Insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand stakeholders’ needs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Salary range is expected to be between

$107,450.00 USD - $199,550.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
