Overview: This senior legal counsel role will be responsible for supporting all corporate governance and securities matters. In addition, this role will support a broad portfolio of commercial and compliance matters. Success in this role requires a team-first attitude, drive, excellent business judgment, strong communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to build strong cross functional relationships. BJ’s (NYSE: BJ) is a Fortune 250 multi-channel retail company, delivering outstanding value to its 7.5m+ members through its 253 clubs, 189 gas stations, and national e-commerce presence.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with securities laws and other public company regulatory requirements, including through the preparation of SEC filings
• Advise on corporate governance matters and support shareholder engagements
• Research, analyze, and manage complex legal issues (compliance, commercial)
• Support engagements with BJ’s business teams to understand and drive practical solutions
• Perform other duties as assigned or as circumstances warrant

Qualifications:

• J.D. from top law school
• At least 4-6 years of AmLaw 100 corporate / transactional experience required (significant corporate securities and governance work strongly preferred)
• Active licensure in at least one jurisdiction (Massachusetts bar admission not required)
• Strong client service focus and team orientation
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Personal integrity, tact, excellent discretion, and the ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately
• Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
• Ability to explain legal issues clearly and concisely

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $145,500.00.
