About the Role

We’re looking for a Systems Administrator to own internal technology operations across the company. This role sits at the intersection of People, Engineering, and Security. You will be the first line of support, working closely with our People and Security teams to support employee workflows, manage access and security, and ensure internal systems operate reliably as we grow further.

You will initially report into our interim Systems Administrator, with the goal of growing into owning the function entirely across the organization within 3-6 months.

As a Systems Administrator, you will
  • Support team members by troubleshooting and resolving software, access, and security requests.

  • Proactively identify and action opportunities to improve security, reliability, and operational efficiency across internal systems and access management.

  • Manage user accounts, access levels, and permissions across our systems, ensuring everyone has the right level of access.

  • Respond to IT support requests quickly and effectively, prioritizing requests based on urgency and impact.

  • Maintain and improve internal IT processes, documentation, and workflows to increase operational efficiency.

  • Work with our People team on onboarding and offboarding through improving or creating account provisioning automations.

  • Act as a point of contact for vendors and platforms.

Systems You’ll Work With

You will spend a significant amount of time working in Rippling, our HRIS and identity provider. Other core systems include:

  • Google Suite

  • Slack

  • Atlassian

  • Notion

  • Zendesk

  • Salesforce

We’re Looking for Someone who has
  • 1-3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or helpdesk roles in a fast-paced environment

  • Hands-on experience with SSO, IAM, and access management workflows

  • Familiarity with email systems, DNS, domain management, and basic security

  • Experience supporting team members and resolving technical issues in a remote-first environment

We’re also looking for someone who will
  • Take ownership of IT support and internal systems

  • Be curious and persistent when diagnosing and resolving requests in the long term

  • Move quickly and communicate clearly while supporting employees

  • Have a solid technical foundation around identity and access management

This role might be a good fit if you are
  • Excited by developing and scaling the IT function

  • Self-motivated and driven to learn

  • Looking to grow your skills through direct experience leading the IT function

Schedule

For this role, we require you to work 9 to 5 in PST (UTC-8).

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
